Hi all,

I been fooling with my Polyevolver keyboard and wound love to try using a joystick to control some of its parameters (such as the wave type in the digital oscs which is not able to be swept via any onboard controllers).

I figured I could mess with amp envs and osc levels at the same time to create some interesting modulations which are not governed by the onboard sequencers). A quick mess around with the modular sending CCs revealed new worlds of exploratory territory.

Anyway, I've also just bought some Wiard Joysticks for my CV gear, and was considering an Joystick Axis Generator and a CVto MIDI converter to accomplish this. Expensive.

Anyway is the axis generator reproducible on the G2, I wouldn't have a clue where to start if it is, I got lost thinking about it after the first axis, let alone 8+ of them from two original controllers!

Is it possible? Anyone care to point me in the right direction and I'll have a try, or do I just buy the hardware Smile

Ideally the patch will have 10 midi cc outs (8 points, edge and dome), from an incoming X-Y controller (2 cc's)

And while we're on the subject, are there any good midi joysticks available from anywhere?! (and im not talking about bastardising a PC / gaming one)

I've been looking for a midi joystick for ages.
The simplest solution I found was the Faderfox DJ2, which has a tiny joystick. I don't think it's possible to allocate which midi CCs the joystick sends, and it's about £150
I spent a long time talking to Tom Bugs http://www.bugbrand.co.uk/ about building me one, but it turned out it would cost more, once research & parts (basing it around a doepfer interface) were taken into account.
I considered buying a Red Sound Darkstar synth, because they're very cheap and have a joystick which outputs midi.
Then I gave up.

There was the guy who built a joystick into the case of a original nord mod, wasn't there?

Rob did, then Wout and me, some others as well maybe. See here.

Has anyone connected a Ctrl pedal to the Sust pedal input on a G2?

If we are lucky, Clavia just used a spare analog mux channel for that input, along with the Ctrl Pedal in, mod wheel and pitch stick. So you could turn any analog joystick into a midi one.

I'm sure the G2 can duplicate the functions you want (and more) but it is a little tricky to work out, specially without a joystick.

Would involve the diode module, level scaling and/or shifting and a multiply or two. The 3D diagrams on Wiard page help (a bit).

Rob should chime in here, I heard him say things about the subject or maybe he even just did it.

I don't think it's possible on the engine, some stuff seems to be software disabled when no keyboard is detected, maybe not all hardware is present, forgot the exact details.
