OFF TOPIC:
Will they slap on import taxes and VAT and such on oldish secondhand gear like the NM-1? I don´t think it works like that in Norway. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

well, it depends on who/where/when but in general the answer is yes.
and you also have to pay import taxes on s+h.
are you sure it's different in norway?
best regards

Actually, I´m not sure, but so far I´ve never paid anything of the sort on older secondhand stuff. They´ve almost literally been throwing me out of the customs office several times when I´ve tried to make sure if this is correct or not.
That said, Norway is not a member of the EU. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Well, once actually.. but then I got the lot returned because it was a mistake but the handling fees for returning the sum was larger than the sum itself, so basically they billed me for returning me the money.. so well.. and I did plead that I really didn´t want the money returned at all.. anyways, they returned something like 350 nkr and the cost for doing so was at almost 500 NKR.. so they sent me a bill for 150 NKR and kept the rest.
The Royal Norwegian Mounted Postal Service stinks. ( understatement ) _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

A friend of mine ordered a viola da gamba from overseas. She got a call that she had to go to Kennedy Airport to pick it up from Customs. The conversation went something like this:
--What is this?
--It's a viola da gamba.
--What's that?
--A musical instrument. It was very popular during the 18th century, but is not widely used today.
--So it's an antique?
--No, it was built recently; it is a copy of an old instrument.
--But you said it was popular during the 18th century.
--Yes, this kind of instrument was popular during the 18th century. But this particular instrument was not around then.
--If it was popular during the 18th century, it must be an antique.
--No, it's a copy.
--Look, I'm losing patience here. I am going to ask you one more time. There is no import duty on antiques. Is this instrument an antique?
--Whatever you say, sir. |

| I'll sell you mine but I'm not in the EU. Your money is worth way more than mine though, so it might make up for it. Let me know. |
