Windows Vista drivers Subject description: Do you want them? |
|

Just wondering how many of us plan or expect to use the G2 with Windows Vista. Personally, as a die-hard Windows user, I hope to avoid Vista as long as I can; but I know that if I buy a new laptop in about a year, I won't have an option.

I plan on avoiding Vista for a while too, but I would hope that all drivers from all companies are upgraded to be Vista compatible at some point. I was shocked to read in your post in the other thread the drivers that are not certified by Microsoft will not run under Vista. That seems horrid. _________________ --Howard

Maybe when I have to I'll go to Vista (get into a situation where I can't do what I need to without the "upgrade".)
Personally, this has re-invigorated me to get my house network running Linux instead. I've already been weening my wife onto OpenOffice and web based mail. So other than running a tax calculation program this month, I won't need anything that *needs* windows over Linux anyway. If those Emu 1616 linux drivers would just get themselves ready and Live would be ported... |

In terms of certified drivers, this is only the case I believe with the Vista ultimate and not for all packages, though I may be incorrect I read this recently. Yes I read it on that other post.

I as well dont have Vista yet , but one day I will upgrade as Mosc said when drivers are more mature etc.
And I agree with Blue Hell there will be no escape from Vista for specific apps or needs. |

I've heard similar claims from the Borg.
Microsoft or the Borg. We're all doomed, one way or another. |

Hi Guys,
64 bit vista requires signed drivers.
32 bit vista currently does not require signed drivers, Microsoft will change this in the future when they think enough 32 bit drivers are available.
Signed drivers are an integral part of the digital rights management built into vista.
Cheers
