Just join us for a bunch of exciting classes in the Max/MSP & Jitter area for two weeks in April. One of Cycling 74's specialists, Wesley Smith, will teach a weekend intensive course about "shaders", tiny little programs that can make your Jitter patch extremely effective. If you're a Jitter freak, you shouldn't miss this rare opportunity to learn about the biggest advantage in realtime video processing in recent years!

In two one-night workshops Peter McCullough will focus on how to make the best use our of LFO's and feedback. If you work with Max/MSP/Jitter for a while, but feel that there should be some easier ways to program, then Matthew Ostrowski's class "Putting it all together" and Adam Kendall's class "Better & Faster Patchbuilding" would be perfect for you. And to learn about motion tracking in Jitter, there's Marlon Barrios-Solano's class "Vision & Motion".

To learn more about those classes, call Hans Tammen at 212-431-1130, or check the class description online at http://www.harvestworks.org/education/classes. To sign up you can also go to http://www.harvestworks.org/store_2/

Prices vary for members and non-members. Membership is $75/yr. There are discounts available if you take a minimum of 3 classes - just call Hans Tammen for the details.

1) ADVANCED JITTER: SHADER INTENSIVE WORKSHOP
Wesley Smith
Saturday/Sunday, Apr 14/15, 12-6pm - $430/members $490/non-members
The ability of Jitter to handle shaders through the jit.gl.shader object makes it one of the most powerful tools for 3D geometry and video processing.

2) FEEDBACK: TAMING THE BEAST IN MAX/MSP
Peter McCulloch
Wednesday, Apr 18 - 6:30-9:30pm - $110/members $170/non-members
Feedback is the dreaded enemy of live sound engineers and DSP programmers, but when properly controlled it also offers enormous potential for sound transformation.

3) ENVELOPE FOLLOWING AND LFO'S IN MAX/MSP
Peter McCulloch
Wednesday, Apr 11 - 6:30-9:30pm - $110/members $170/non-members
Envelope followers and LFOs (low frequency oscillators) have been around since the early days of analog synths and remain indispensable tools for improving sound quality and interactivity. These techniques have a broad applicability for a range of processes from feedback delay to synthesis to granular sampling, and this class will discuss how to incorporate these processes into your patches.

4) MAX/MSP/JITTER INTERMEDIATE LEVEL - PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER
Matthew Ostrowski
Thursday, Apr 12/19/26 - 6:30-9:30pm - $325/members $385/non-members
This course will take the class through the creation of a basic DJ/VJ patch, with an emphasis on program architecture and assembling an efficient system.

5) BETTER AND FASTER PATCH-BUILDING IN MAX/MSP
Adam Kendall
Wed, Apr 25, 6:30-9:30pm - $110/members $170/non-members
Working with native Max/MSP objects, we will focus on techniques that save programming time and that make patches easier to reuse in multiple projects.

6) VISION & MOTION
Marlon Barrios Solano
Fridays, April 13/20/27, 6:30-9:30pm - $325/members $385/non-members
This beginner's workshop is a "hands-on" introduction to computer vision techniques with MAXMSPJitter in order to use data from a video camera field for the control of interactive media outputs.
