There is no search function for the newslist, is there? Or to put it differently: I had a hard time searching for the Kees' talking patches. I knew one of them is called "Autobahn". What would've been my best approach?
(I've found it after a while, btw, but only because I remembered some more)

Is it possible to download a whole forum, say the Clavia G2-forum, to read it offline?
Same question for the newslist. I know I can download a gzipped file that unzips in about 10 folders and finally I have a not so convenient plain text file.

Thanks for all your work.

You can restrict the search to any forum, or hierarchy of forums. Use the third field on the seach page to do this.

The http://electro-muisc.com/g2patches.php has many ways to organize the data by clicking on the headers.

You can view G2 patches of a single patcher by clicking on there name in the g2patches list and then clicking of the link to the patches on the profile page.

Of course, you can download the entier G2 patch archive in zip format too: http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-8770.html

Thanks, Howard, but it's not possible to find the Autobahn-patch this way. It actually not even possible to trace it with Google searching for "autobahn" and ".pch2".
As for the patch archive: I knew this, I'm actually talking about the forums themselves, like the "Modular Synthesis" forum.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying about not being able to search an individual forum.

As for the autobahn patch not showing up in the g2patches.php listing, maybe there is an ommission or a bug. I don't see this patch in the listing either. Can you post a link to where it is located. I'll see what's wrong - maybe I can fix it.

I'm not making myself clear, sorry.

Kees van der Maarel sent the Autobahn patch to the newslist. Here's the link: http://mail.electro-music.com/pipermail/nord-modular/2004-September/000677.html

I'm not able to find this patch with the search function and I'm asking what I'm doing wrong.

That's my first point.

My second point is this:
I'd like to read the forums offline sometimes. I'm often travelling by train and it would be nice to read what has been posted to the forum. I'm not talking about patches this time, I'm talking html or text on my harddrive. But not such an ugly text like the ones the newslist is zipped in Wink

speaking of searching:

is it just me? i'm always wishing the search would default to "all words" rather than "any word".

Ahh... The newslist being the NM Mailing list. I wasn't even thinking of that one. I think Jan and Wout are working on an updated version of the NM Archives. http://nm-archives.electro-music.com.

As for reading the forum offline. Have you tried Forumzilla? I tried it a couple of years ago and it worked pretty well with the rss feed from this site.

I understand I should go the RSS way. I'll have to find a way how to store the content of the feeds, and how to download the whole forum No. 63 Shocked

BUT:
I get an error with both RSS Bandit and something called intraVnews (plugin for Outlook) when subsribing to
http://electro-music.com/forum/rss.php?f=63. or
http://electro-music.com/forum/rss.php?c=50&t=1&f=109,63,88,77,44,98,47,48,46,81

rss4 works well.

Were you able to find the Autobahn patch?
I just did a search of the entire website- no luck

Been a while and I must have lost contact with this topic. Sorry.

The RSS does't have style information and isn't really a suitable mechanism for off-line use of the forum. It's best to keep track of forum topics and use the links they provide. I just tested the RSS links Sebber provided in Firefox and they are working correctly as far as I can see. If there is a RSS expert who would be willing to help out here, I've be grateful. I don't use RSS myself.

What I meant to say is- I did a search with the Search link at the top of the page, not through an RSS client.
