So long as Bernie didn't mind. I don't know about the copyrights, I expect he's still got them. I think he's got all the original issues to copy.

and hey, bernie is such a kind person. and the electronotes are worth every penny...

i just received the preferred circuits, the builders guide and vol7-11. it's great and valuable. i actually don't know anything about electronics, just started sdiy 2 years ago. so electronotes is a great source for me. in vitro and in vito! theory and circuits. i will learn a lot from it, i think. and its written in a very relaxed manner. i suddenly got the feeling i could understand something about all that stuff and i am even a non native speaker.
oops, i just started raving!? just want to encourage you to buy it from bernie.

Hi guys,
Anyway, if there's a specific article you need from an issue of Electronotes that we have, you can request it through Inter-Library Loan (a service that should be available at your local library) or I'd be happy to try to get a copy for you.

Bernie is still in business selling Electronotes. He work long hard hours at two jobs for many years to bring us this incredible resource at a more than reasonable price. Please do not try to subvert his business interests in this manner. Thank you.

Thanks, David, for your offer, but unless you have Bernie's permission, I suggest you refrain from distributing electronotes, even in one-off quantities. I've sent him an email message to see what is the status of electronotes.

Agreed that copying is probably way out of order, but David is also saying (well, I figure he is anyways..)::::

Hooray for the Library!
Especially the big university ones.
They're treasure troves.

Stephen - do you know if there's any UK universities that ran good experimental music / electronics courses back in the 70s? 'cos those'd be the libraries to check over here.
And the British Library -- meant to be amazing but I've never been..

Trent Park Polytechnic in Enfield used to run courses at that time as far as I know. As for the British Library, when I worked in London, I spent many hours trawling through old electronics mags at the Patent office, which is now next to Kings Cross station. I've never been in that building since it opened. I've also been to the British Sound Archive near South Kensington, where you can listen to recordings by arrangement, and it used to be possible to make your own stealth recordings!! (say no more squire!)

are you in the NYU at Buffalo?

If you do, please give mega-extra-kind-regards to Cort Lippe from me
He was in charge of the electroacoustic music lab there. I had a great time while being there for the "June in Buffalo" seminars.
He is a great composer and guy, and a wise man. He worked for years at IRCAM.

BTOH, thanks a lot for the offer but, as far as Bernie is in this planet we should buy Electronotes from him. It's cheap and worth every penny. A veritable wisdom cornucopia if you know about electronics (pitty I don't)

Cort Lippe is indeed here (University at Buffalo) as director of the Lejaren Hiller computer music studio. I haven't seen it, but I'm told we have an amazing studio.

Err, hmm. Well, I was trying to say that the UB Music Library has those issues and that if you needed an article from that date range, they're available via Inter-Library Loan (ILL). And if your library didn't offer the service, I wouldn't mind popping over to make a copy once in a while.

ILL has its place, but this is not one of them. This is not a question of accessing unavailable reading material. It is a question of taking sales away from Bernie. Anybody who need any Electronotes issues can get them from Bernie. Here is the link.
