I have an ediriol fa-101 it's 10 in 10 out, i want to use 8 mono outputs to my mixing desk. how do i configure this?

im using logic express, i noticed in logic i can output to 1-2 3-4 5-6 and so on, but i dont want to output in stereo, im a bit confused about this because iv never used a hardware mixer before. i thought maybe i could have 2 tracks outputing on 1-2 and pan one left and one right, but i dont know if this is the best way...

can someone explain how to get these mono ouputs? and what are buses in logic? is that just grouping a number tracks together?

thanks

In Logic, I think you need make the audio tracks mono rather than stereo in order to select output 1, 2, 3, 4 as opposed to outputs 1-2, 3-4 etc.

Your grouping suggestion for buses is quite correct. Buses are a way to mix several channels down to one in order obtain a common amount of control, for example if you have 6 tracks set up for drums and have them mixed correctly relative to each other, you could send them to a bus allowing you to change their overall volumes with respect to the rest of the mix without needing to tweak each individual track. Similarly you could add a touch of reverb to the entire drum "submix" without needing to add a reverb insert to each track. There are probably many more uses for them but this generally what I use them for.

Cheers,
