You really should read the manual, there is no way out
Type "chuck manual" without the quotes into google and then hit "I'm feeling lucky", or search the folder where you unzipped ChucK for a folder called doc, in that folder is a file called "ChucK_manual.pdf", probably.
You might also want to have a look at mini audicle, that one makes things a bit easier. _________________ Jan

ChucK is a bit different in that it's a programming language, so it requires a bit more knowledge to make it produce some sound. You should (as said) read the Manual, but that doesn't help to much when you have no idea of what you're doing, so first it's best to look at some examples. You can find some (including a couple of mine) up on the Wiki:
http://wiki.cs.princeton.edu/forums.html/ChucK
Look under Sounds to find some examples. You can also find some Tutorials and a bunch of other nice documents up there.
As the above poster said, there are interfaces for ChucK such as MiniAudicle/Audicle that make working it a bit easier for the beginner. Once you get the hang of actually writing code and how to work the command line bit you can move on to using Emacs/VI (programmer's text editors) and some actual shell code to take you to the next level, but you have to crawl before you can run
Hope this helps. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/kruhft

I had trouble navigating the Wiki, I couldn't find a table of contents anywhere. What am I missing? |

That was a link to the table of contents. The wiki is a bit wierd; use that link as your starting point. Check out the 'Sounds' and 'Tutorials' link on that page. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/kruhft

Oh, duh on me, I didn't even check your link, I was just remembering going to it before and not finding stuff. Thanks. |

I think if someone is not comfortable with ChucK starting with mini Audicle is a good possibility, in conjunction with reading the manual as already suggested... |
