Question about connecting two G2's to one PC |
|
|
Ehm, I feel a bit stupid right now, as a newbie or whatsit called, but I tried to connect two G2 engines to my laptop on the two USB outlets it has and I had expected the editor to connect happily to both engines ... it however doesn't ... it seems to get very confused instead as if it constantly switches between the two engines ... did anyone try this ?

Perhaps you could try connecting both G2s to the same USB port on the PC. (using a USB hub device) |

I'm trying to contact Clavia (which is not always easy) about this subject, when I know more I'll let you know.
Meanwhile, I'll try the external hub idea this evening.
The way (I think) USB works it should not make a difference however. The two outlets are connected through a virtual (software) hub to the USB master root device in the computer.
But one never knows, does one :-)

The official Clavia statement is that it's not possible to connect more than one G2 to a computer.
Inofficialy .. it's on there wishlist.
I would have appreciated it very much when this had been stated explicitly on the Clavia web site. Especially as there must be more people like me having had an NM Classic who will naturalyy expect it to be possible to connect up to four synths to the computer.
It is true that nowhere on the Clavia site, nor in the manual, it is stated that it is possible to connect multiple G2's to a PC, but still I'm disappointed by this, I feel tricked, but maybe I'm not too smart.
Anyway, I 'advised' Clavia to make a statement about this issue on their site, meanwhile be warned.

Very bad news ! Very very bad! Throws my whole live setup concept out of whack!
...and I'm pretty sure I read once a preliminary announcement where they stated that it would be possible. I normally don't dream such things.
But as it says on the website: "subject to change without notice"

Damn! That's *very* bad. I had also planned to get two G2s.
The fact that the editor supports up to four (?) connected G2s clearly suggests that your problem is a bug, and not a wish, right? How else would it be possible for the editor to control the additional three machines? |

They will put this feature like on old editor where you can put 4 modulars, it just takes some time.I guess. |

You were right :-)
I don't know exactly how many G2's can be connected (could not find a specification) but to have two connected works very well now !!
