who knows about low cost equipment? |

does anybody have any idea where I can get low cost electronics toys to bend? I'm a jobless high school senior that needs some toys for my electronics independent study class. Can anybody steer me in the right direction? |

Flea markets?
Trash cans?
There's likely to be a lot more low-cost stuff out there at flea markets. You might be amazed at how many of these gadgets there are out there.
oh yeah and to electro-music.com, what sort of independent study are you doing? _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

Try thrift stores, Salvation Army, Goodwill, St. Vincent DePaul, etc.
Yard Sales, Flea markets, Garage sales. |

Thanks for the advice.
I'm just doing general electronics independent study but I want to focus on circuit bending and create an arsenal of instruments by the end of the year. The project has been a little slow moving, as I've only bent an electronics keyboard toy from Wal-Mart and that was difficult because the whole circuit was only accessible through two ribbon cables.
I've been looking around for flea markets, but the closest on-going flea market center is about a half an hour away.

Pawn shops usually don't bother with low priced stuff like small electronic kids toys. Not much profit margin for them. That being said, give them a try, you never know. |

I shall. If they don't have any, I might as well just beg friends for old toys they have lying around the house. _________________ when the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace |

No harm in that. A lot of people have stuff kicking around in boxes in the cellar or attic. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

no toy at all: pick up a 10-15 year old cdplayer and you can hack a digital input onto it so it accepts spdif or aes/ebu or whatever. Just pick one with multibit DAC and no bitstream , upgrade output stage and beat the modern converters , pm me I can help with directions . |

There's always the Speak N Spell. They can be found on Ebay pretty inexpensive. The blue one speaks like a Brit whic would be a different take on the circuit bent SnS. |
