Password fishing going on here Subject description: Please read this and think about it...
We have seen at least one case of what appears to be password fishing. This means people are trying to log on as various user names and trying passwords at random, or variations of the user name.
Please consider what is happening and reconsider your electro-music.com password. Make sure is isn't something easy to guess - like your user name or your user name backwards - or some variation on it.
The site has been unaccessible on and off several times the past days.
And some PM's takes average 5-7 days to transmit inside your router!
Its strange because the time stamp are correct but delivery date are
days later?!
Some routes from Scandinavia to the Godaddy facility have been down or incredible slow. Yesterday evening it was so bad that I had to use some proxy tricks: surfing via a proxy which is on a network that uses a different connection to the US than the one I have at home ( Telenor / Canal Digital ).
This has of course nothing to do with passwords though. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"
This is all something we should be aware of but...
why the hell would anyone want to do such a thing? I mean, it's not like were trading porno or stock sectrets or planning a revolution here.
I can only guess why but there have been some funny things going on a few times in the last few months, like posts that were but were not not posted by the poster. Not often, the posts were porn/spam BTW. _________________ Jan

Well, I can only say that if I put a post stating "Viagra at low prices" or "Hey, guys. You make me hot!", it's not me.
at which point, we'll really wonder about your password, or if there is something wrong with phpBB. Since we know about phpBB, we'll assume it's your account... _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

Oh really? I think I should change my password.
So...There is no real way of telling if MyPasswordIs123456 actually wrote this. For all we know, this is just an imposter, who changed his password after post #1 , and now MyPasswordIs123456 is duct-taped up in the internet basement!

Old thread, but I'd just like to tell you, my account haven't been hijacked, this is quite a secure community. Haven't feel the need to change password yet.
Bumping this as there might be some password guessing going on right now.
People please use reasonable password(s) for your account(s) here; hacked accounts may be deleted when inappropriate contents pops up. _________________ Jan

i think it's actually called brute-forcing; fishing (or phishing) is when they send you a fraudulent message asking for your password (to "confirm your account" or some such).
Yes you are right I think.
Anyway, bumping this again ... as password guessing seems to be an ongoing thing, I had to shut down an account the other day as it was compromised.
So please use a non-trivial password for your account here. _________________ Jan

Sorry you have to do this kind of things on a day like this, when everybody in Enschede is jumping up and down through the streets, drinking lots of local beer and cheering their voices to the doctor...

What is it with "misses" from "Africa" seeking "friendships"? Are we supposed to automatically have warm, fuzzy feelings for African women to the extent that we would all spill our guts, social security numbers and credit card numbers to them? Why not big, hulking men from Norway? Or skinny, thinly-bearded nomads from Siberia? They really should mix it up a bit, just to keep it interesting.
P.S. My password is *trips, falls*. Fucking sandals!!!
Thanks to Blue Hell for cleaning up the PM mess, and congrats for his town's superb victory. Now everyone there will be eternally happy. _________________ --Howard
