My blurb
'Modulator ESP produces improvised experimental music using analogue and digital synthesis, analogue sequencers and processed sounds to create strange worlds of sound somewhere between '70s space music, prog rock and dark ambient drone. His set will be improvised live'

I'm in ...thanks!
2) the slot assigned to you is too long or too short
Heh ... 30 minutes is a warm-up, but that's okay. I'm good.
3) you'd like another time slot.
Nope. It's fine ...
4) the Google calendar widget doesn't work for you
Widget works great and I'm going to link it to my Google calendar as well.
5) you have suggestions, comments, complaints, etc.
Well, #1, I live in Bridgewater, MA ...so I'm not in New York ...actually about 30 miles south-southwest of Boston.
I would like everyone who is participating to have a little bit of text we can display on the radio page the describes what you are going to be doing. You can just add that as a reply to this topic and I'll cut and paste.
Here's a text blurb: "usr/sbin" is a performance and recording project of Dennis Moser, a guitarist and sound artist now based in New England. Expect some loops, expect delays, expect textures, expect the unexpected, but don't expect a Spanish Inquisition!

Totally fine. The effort is there. It's funny because when you click on my name "State machine", it links to a band "statemachine" .... some other band ... It's cool though .......

I guess Howard is busy as I didn't see him too much online today. I've sent him a PM to try to get his attention here. _________________ Jan

Better late than never? Maybe not! Today I finished writing and testing my software instrument that I started designing about a week ago, and now I cannot get oddcast to see or use the lame_enc.dll file that I placed in oddcast's directory. In fact the only encoder that oddcast sees is vorbis & it keeps trying to use multiple vorbis encoders. I tried installing oddcast from scratch with ONLY the lame mp3 encoder checked in the oddcast installation, and again copying lame_enc.dll into the oddcast directory, but oddcast just ignores lame/mp3.
Maybe too late. I am posting here instead of the instructions thread, because maybe someone here has hit this snag. Thanks.
The piece is "Music for 32 Chess Pieces" and it is a live rendering of inter-piece relations in a chess game using the Just Intonation Pentatonic Scale. The state of the chess board after each move completely determines the output, so other than arbitrary timing of moves there is no "randomness." Move timing matters only because there are LFOs sweeping the tempo and volume of the respective sides (white & black), so making a move a second later would change where your side's LFOs are at for tempo and volume, in relation to the other side's LFOs. Other than this it is completely deterministic, but the combinatorics allow for surprises.
Happy New Year.
EDIT: NEVER MIND! (at least for now) On to the next problem . . . _________________ When the stream is deep

Didn't hit yours, but at times Oddcast seems odd ... could you post your cfg files? maybe that would give a clue ... you are using the Oddcast standalone version? _________________ Jan

Thanks. I got just got it working as instructed. Misinterpreted instructons on my part as usual. Can't really test it until I get a port & password, so I'd better get my butt in gear! and PM Mosc. Wish me luck. _________________ When the stream is deep

Sorry I didn't respond earlier. I gave you Dec 31 at 4 to 4:30. This is a slot that Fonik was going to use but gave up because he was sick. _________________ --Howard
