Looking for a totally insane VST... Subject description: ...that will make my computer explode. |
|
|
I want a MONSTER vst that is insane, with tempo sync in mind. I have Moog Modular V along with basically every well known free VST on the internet, as well as a modular environment vst host ( I can hook them up all crazy like ect.)
So, please, help me out I'm looking for something that is beyond insane and is rediculous and will make my computer explode. I'm making this post, because I want to see if anyone knows what I'm looking for.
I want something INSANE that will make my computer turn into like a space robot that will enslave humanity. I mean, something that is seriously really cool. Prefferably something experimental and totally insane, and not an emulation. I'm sick of this "analog simulation" crap. This is the 21st cenutry and I want a space synth/vocoder that modulates its modulations with pico-HFO's and tempo syncs your brainwaves, while re-synthesizing its CPU fluctuating oscillator until it explodes. Any suggestions? Thank you. |

Thank you both. However, I'm not getting through to the "lucifer" vst. It seems to have fallen from devine-machine's product page. Thanks anyways though there are way too many VST's to make a sound choice. |

How about reaktor 5 from Native Instruments.
Absolutely fantastic with some really weird stuff in the user library which contains hundreds of good instruments.
Demo also available on the NI site. |

Reaktor - you can make your own exploding synths.
Tassman - very cool modular synth that weighs heavy on the Physical modeling side.
Tera - Virsyn's Tera is very modular and has all kinds of stuff. Use enough voices and your computer will explode or at least catch fire.
MAX/MSP - if you enjoy coding more than making music and want to do things that sonically only exist in the minds of mental patients. |

.. and for something a little more unusual and generative in nature, take a look at SYNPLANT. Truly an interesting little piece, the company I work at is actually using it for sound design. |

+1 Massive.
Though Reaktor is a lot of fun if you're into low-level sound mangling. |

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have to check some of those out sometime. A friend of mine is habitually upgrading his computer (he's even implemented liquid cooling) and I've been meaning to give some of the more CPU heavy programs a try on his system. In my opinion, even existing complex soft synths demand much more computing power than is available to the average musician- it's no fun having such a finite number of virtual patch cables that can be hooked up. Although, I should probably try something running at 4+ GHZ before I take too many stabs at the present level of affordable technology. |

I've been digging into z3ta by Cakewalk (former RGC audio synth) more and really having a ball with it. might be a worth a look-see-listen... _________________ Dave

Try Sophia - available from http://www.audiobulb.com/create.html# If that doesn't drive you mad, then either nothing will, or you were mad already
I've been getting some interesting results by controlling it with the Populus VST sequencer (http://www.xoxos.net/vst/vst.html#midi - where there are all sorts of other interesting goodies) either alone, or in combination with the Ball Sequencer from http://upland.no/download/.
I've also just downloaded the LFO MIDI parametriser from http://www.lauvadidzis.com/p/ilegacy.html - it's basically a VST LFO which can be output to any MIDI channel. I'm looking at using it to get even finer control over Sophia's parameters.
For rhythm, I often fall back on Cubix 1.2, running through the Paradigm Shifter effect - both available at http://www.psychicmodulation.com/plugins.html
The VST host from http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm is my playground / sandbox for all the above and more.
Hope that helps _________________ It may stop, but it never ends. |
