This was getting a bit OT in http://electro-music.com/forum/post-210201.html , so I split it off to a new thread.
@Roland, when you don't like the thread title you can edit it by clicking the edit button on the first mail in this thread. _________________ Jan |

This is great news, Roland. I've started synthesis courses as of this autumn here at the university of the arts where I teach. I will be hipping my students to your DVD. |

It contains:
1/Basic I(programming basics about the working and building a plain modular synth).
2/Basic II(programming all other kind of synthesis).
3/Amplitude and Ring Modulation.
4/Sample&Hold.
5/Audio Processing.
6/Programming House/Techno I.
7/Programming House/Techno II.
8/Programming Experimental Music I.
9/Programming Experimental Music II.
10/Tips&Tricks.
11/History of Electronic Music and instruments.
It will be avalable in Dutch/English/French/German. |
I think this is a great idea!
May I ask- what will the format will be used to create the DVD?
That is- if this is a video DVD- as opposed to AVI video files (for example), would you consider both PAL and NTSC formats, if it's feasible?
I know that the majority of the people on this site/forum live in countries where PAL is the standard, but there are 1-2 of us who don't.
If the production of NTSC versions incur more cost, I'm willing to pay for them. _________________ Free Tibet. Release the Panchen Lama from prison. Let the Dalai Lama return to his home. |

it is explained by the G2Demo/hardware version.
but i make use of the softsynth's EMS synthi and the ARP 2600 too.
further more, it contains all kinds of sound/vid examples. |
Which 2600 softsynth do you use?
I'm happy with TimewArp 2600, but I've never really tried Arturia's version. _________________ Free Tibet. Release the Panchen Lama from prison. Let the Dalai Lama return to his home. |

If the production of NTSC versions incur more cost, I'm willing to pay for them. | I think it won't be that kind of a DvD; it's more the medium on which data is saved because of the size of the matter I make my conclusion about this reading the table of contents bearing titles like
...
3/Amplitude and Ring Modulation.
4/Sample&Hold.
...
6/Programming House/Techno I.
7/Programming House/Techno II.
...
which are issues Roland published before on the net concerning the NM Classic. Not the same as the DvD which was discussed in the Thread 'Rob Hordijk's G2 Tutorial': there was talk about real people telling about the G2. If it will be a real video I wonder how Roland's publisher dealt with the 'production costs > number of sold items > profit' thingy... Specially now the G2 is an abandoned synth
Anyway, I'm curious about
2/Basic II(programming all other kind of synthesis)
Hopefully Roland took care about any infrigments on copy rights...
And last but not least... Selling prize?

Is that really an issue nowadays? I'm pretty sure that on this side of the Atlantic, DVD players and most TV sets manufactured this millenium can handle both formats (otherwise that big craze way back, when loads of people hacked their players so they could play import region 1 movies, wouldn't have been possible). Perhaps it isn't like that in the US - no corresponding need to import non-NTSC movies.

The decoder chips used in TV's here have been multi standard for decades.
It is annoying that any off the shelf DVD player will happily play disks from any zone, but PC DVD drives still try to lock you into one zone. |

It looks liske there will be some video, so format may be an issue.
If the majority of the DVD is just data files, then why is a dvd necessary? _________________ Free Tibet. Release the Panchen Lama from prison. Let the Dalai Lama return to his home. |

Multi-zone dvd players are still optional in the US. I have never bought a dvd from another zone, so I don't have/need a multi-zone player. _________________ Free Tibet. Release the Panchen Lama from prison. Let the Dalai Lama return to his home. |

http://babelfish.yahoo.com/ | Hell, no! I'm sure Roland will publish a Dutch version as being Dutch
(Okay, Deutsche, was wrongly spelled and doesn't need uppercast as being an adjective, does it?
