The Patch itself is fixed, of course. The NordLead is a pre-patched synth. Only the parameters differ in each Program.

The Nordlead has 4 Slots, which the artist uses all, so basically you hear 4 synths at the same time. To control these in one movement the Morph function is surely used, so where in one Program the parameter decreases, in another one it increases, at least, this can be used that way. Furthermore the Percussion mode can be used which means each Slot can contain 8 synthesizers, so there is a possibility 32 different sounds are played; only the tonal range would be very limited but who is talking tonality here Smile. The keyboard is used as trigger.

I like to hint a way of obtaining these kind of sound tweaking projects on any synth: try a Midi randomizer and save all interesting results. Take notice of those parameters which will cut off the sound and adjust these if needed. Play the sound and explore what it can do sound wise.

At http://electro-music.com/forum/phpbb-files/random_and_improvisation_09_11_07_448.mp3
is a 2 Slot random improvisation done on the Nordlead3, which has a beautiful After Touch and 4 Morph groups.

I just made a single Program in the Nordlead2 using 'RandomPatch' in the 'Run' part of NordGen and adjusted some parameters like the Filter (no BP but LP24dB) and the FM to the ModWheel and recorded this.
I'm more in for the sustaining sounds rather then the 'blips&blobs', so...

For those with a NL2 the SysEx file is also there.

Furthermore some random Patches tweaked to tonal use able Programs, but only in SysEx.

So the morphing is the secret. . . No wonder I couldn't figure out what was going on.

i'm the one who made that video. i get a lot of questions about it and am trying to find the time to video tape a similar session from the start.

i use all four parts + arps + drums + lfo and then morph.

also keep in mind that as it plays i'm also changing patches in different slots sometimes. it is all improvisational so it is hard to remember what i was doing at them.

if you search my posts, i think i've got 4 wavs of this uploaded. the audio in the video is from one of the waves.

enjoy. i'll update this thread once i make a video of it.
