Hi loss1234
If you check the earlier picture I posted - that is pretty much the patch - although I had been moving a couple of the patch cords... and changing the clock speeds...and it changed into that output. I can't tell you exactly what was happening off the top of my head - but here's what was patched.
The top left of the case are 40106 osc's patched into the Data and Clock input of a 4094 8 stage Shift Register (2nd module from left). Next module to the right is a dual 4015 4 stage shift register. The horizonatal panel on the bottom is a 555 based VCO and 6 40106 clocks - I'm using one of those to clock the 4025 divider/Sub Osc. (4th Module from the right)
Some of the outputs from those modules are are patched into the far right hand module - which is an R/2R Ladder. Output from the ladder is a CV voltage sent to a 555 based simple VCO.
That's about all there was going on there.
Hope that helps a little - just start patching til something happens.
I've got another patch going right now that just keeps morphing as I move a patch cord or change the clock speed... at times its very cool...other times kind of annoying.
Good luck!

"- I'm using one of those to clock the 4025 divider/Sub Osc"
you are using a 4025 or a 4024? you mentioned it both ways.
also, i count 5 modules plus the lower clock/555 module.
let me see if i get the order
1 is 40106
2 is 4098
3 4015
4 4024 (you say 4th module from the right...but i thought the 4015 was the 3rd module?)
blank panel
5. r2r
bottom is more 40106's and 555???
i am sorry for being a pain but i think if i can understand your patch, i will be able to understand more about how to make my own permanent lunetta
it sounds like you are going
40106 into 4098
4098 into 4024 or
4024 into R2r
r2r into cv in of 555
and 40106 into 4015
4015 into ???
i just am not sure where the 4015 is coming in or what the 4024 is doing.
also, are you using a mixer or just taking an out straight from the 4024?

Hi Dan -
It's 5 volts for the logic - although I do have +- 12 volt for a couple op amps I have in there.
I will post the specifics I have in the case a bit later... I'm off to the lake for a few hours of sailing

it helps a lot!!
thanks for taking the time to help me out
i have built almost ALL of these modules separately on the breadboard at one time or another but I need TO GET busy making them permanent because obviously, the sum is worth more than the parts!!!
i have been playing around with the external voltage in on cmos chips myself lately and its wild!
also, that 4051 is a great chip!
i love your suitcase setup. this might be just the way to keep my wife from complaining about space!
anyway...off to test some of this out
thanks thanks thanks _________________ -------------------------------------------- check out various dan music at: http://www.myspace.com/lossnyc

Question though, i noticed in that suitcase set up you have a 4011 ring mod, could i look at a schematic? |

so with this schematic, you could technically set up 2 ring mods, with 4 inputs using pins 1,2,5,6,8,9,12,13?
If so, best ring mod schematic i've found yet. |

Thanks for the clip! It's great to hear what you are up to.
Isn't that Mankato a nice filter?
You mention trying to get sine waves - how are you going about trying that? What sort of sucess are you having?

Here is a sample of two of my 40106 vco's been driven by one of my 4024 pattern generators.
Some parts get a tad bit boring, so you should download it and skip around. ;D
EDIT: forgot to mention this was recorded on the fly with just random knob twiddlin' and switch flippin'. _________________ Youtube!

Great to hear some more Lunetta's! Thanks for posting that.
I liked the stereo bits - I need to do some of that with mine.

Sounds great to me...
Lunetta's seem to always have a happy sound. Anyway, I can't tell you how happy it makes me to hear such sounds. _________________ --Howard

Great thread. lunetta1_184.mp3 is inspiring and entertaining. I love the idea of just letting stuff run and letting the circuit you designed surprise you. |

The 2N5172 NPN transistor in that schematic can it be replaced by something else? Like say BE357/BE347/2N3904 ? |

Here's a quick clip of something I was messing about with last night.
Lunetta clip
It's just some oscillators clocking a little note generator made out of a 4017 and 4051. It's basically the multidivide from this thread http://www.electro-music.com/forum/topic-28792.html but using clocks on the data pins instead of switches. The ENA and INH pins can also be used for different sounds. |

Thanks for the comments.
Here's another clip
The 2 sections are the same setup just patched differently, bit of knob twiddling at the end.
Really enjoying messing around with these things |
