Preferred Start Time (GMT/UTC): after 0130 GMT (Sunday, 730pm, CST)
Name (stage name if there is one): Kevin Kissinger
Location: Kansas City, Mo. USA
Real name: Kevin Kissinger
Username: kkissinger
Set Length (30 or 60 min.): 30, 60 is possible if needed.
Description:
I have been experimenting with looping with clock sync with my Aries synthesizer and getting some intriguing results.
Expect to hear music that is ambient with some "grooves" that will come and go as I build loops that are sync'd to the clock.
The Aries is now 33 years old, it makes great sounds, and is all the more flexible with the use of live-looping equipment. _________________ -- Kevin

OK, folks, I have a problem with an easy solution. We've done testing in the chatroom and my 5 year old Mac just doesn't have the CPU power to do the job. So I need someone to stream my broadcast for me.
If you have any operating system except Vista, then you can run ChucK with my music generation program. It runs all by itself so all you have to do is start it up and let it run for an hour, streaming at 128kbps 44kHz stereo.
So if you'd like to do that, I'd really appreciate it. Plus bonus: you'll have a way cool No Wave music generator all set up on your system as a result! Who can resist that joy? Haha, just post here if you would like to help, and thanks! _________________ "Let's make noise for peace." - Kijjaz |

Yes this is going to be a fun and an exciting event!
We encourage all of those who have not already done so, to test their stream
and set things up now. Testing on the day of the event will not be a good idea at all, as we will be very busy.
Feel free to come to the chat-room and we can assist you.

Or to quote Shane

Sorry, but musicians WILL NOT be allowed to stream on Sunday if you do not test 24 hours before hand. Not only does it delay the schedule, but causes unneeded stress on performer, server operator, and audience during performance time. |
So please step into the chat room soon! _________________ Jan

Is the test server up and running? I presume that I use the same port that I used for the NYE event.
Thanks! _________________ -- Kevin

OK, never mind about my request for someone to run my software, I bought a netbook today and got it working with help from the folks in the chatroom. I also figured out something cool which is that you can route your headphone output back into your line-in jack with a Y cable to accomplish audio routing. This is good because windows has no Jack or Soundflower audio routing freeware. cheers! _________________ "Let's make noise for peace." - Kijjaz |

I am sorry to hear you are having issues with the chat room modulator_esp
but I have to say the chat room has never worked better and we are up to a record number of active users!
Something must just be off with your software etc.
Best to test this as well now instead of waiting until the last minute.
If you need some help you can PM me if needed,
we will do whatever we can to help you.
Thank you,

In the first message in this thread, and on the radio page there was written :
shanemorris wrote: | It would be best if everyone could stream at 128 kbps, 22 kHz , stereo if possible. |
This is a mistake, and entirely my fault ... it should read :
128 kbps, 44.1 kHz , stereo
Sorry for this, I'll fix it in the original message too.
Edit : ok, that fixed it on the radio page too. _________________ Jan

The Java chat application that has worked so well for years is getting old. It apparently doesn't work to well with the latest Java releases. I've stopped using it and I use a separate program on my PCs (Trillian).
Anyway, if anyone is familiar with some other program, preferably web based, that has been proven to work, please let me know via PM and I'll see if we can't replace the Java client. Doing this is one of many things on my to-do list to improve the experience here.
BTW, many of you know we have been having lots of problems with the shoutcast servers we run. Well, I'm pretty sure we have finally sorted this problem out. Things seem to be working fine lately. Thanks to all those on the chat room who so patiently worked with me as I experimented to get this sorted out. electro-music.com is really a community. _________________ --Howard

I had issues on new year's eve, but then I was using the web based java thing. I'll try my new chat client later too _________________ Jez

I've been connected here for 222:22, so almost 4 hours without any hickups ... not in the down stream to here and not in the up stream from my home ... meanwhile people have been connecting and disconnecting all the time ... also noted your message on the chat .. I should have gone to bed just a little bit later
Anyway, it is way better now, and I stopped going nuts.
A chat thingy working well for me is ChatZilla, it runs on top of FireFox (not a web based solution, just a free IRC client). But then again ... the java thingie seems to work for me too ... even on Vista ... _________________ Jan

BTW, I went to Radio Shack today and got a Y connector for routing audio from my headphone jack back to my line-in Jack. It was under seven bucks, part number 42-2496. I don't much like Rat Shack but this is a sweet little cable, very portable and lets me listen to my broadcast while sending it back to the broadcast software flawlessly (as far as i know).
Note that for my computer, an Acer Aspire One netbook, I need to have the headphones connected to the Y or it won't work. This is OK since I want to listen anyway. On another computer you might get away with a straight cable instead of a Y, whatever works eh?
So cheers and happy audio routing! _________________ "Let's make noise for peace." - Kijjaz |
