Power conversion on a Jap Import Subject description: Korg Delta |
|
|
Hello, this is my 1st post so go easy on me
Ive recently bought a Korg Delta had it shipped from Japan, i went out today to get a converter as its on a Japanese plug,
Power on the back is marked "AC100v 50/60hz 15w"
I need to convert it to UK, so thought easy just get a ac100v - 240v but been back and too all day and on the net and now im completely confused. Step ups and step downs. Completely lost now. And i just wanna get using it.
Guy in the electrics shop gave me (not sold) a surge protected travel adapter, (input voltage 110 or 240) as says use the US and Jap pins are the same so should work with my jap plug end. Needless to say it didnt, the powerlight flashed briefly but thats it.
Any direct links to actual units would be greatly appreciated |

Right ... hope you just blew the fuse and nothing else ... but first let me you.
You cant run that machine as is on 240 V, either the synth will have to be changed to accept 240 V (but I dont know if this is possible), or you'll need a step down transformer from 240 to 100 V.
Does the synth have a voltage selector? could you post pics of the back of it maybe, or point to such a pic on the web?
After you got things set up for the right voltage you'll have to change the fuse, as your experiment blew it ... as I said befor I hope nothing else got damaged ... but in case like these people tend to be quite lucky usually ... anyway, when you believe in such things it would be the right time to start a little prayer maybe _________________ Jan
also .. could someone please turn down the thermostat a bit.

Thanks for the reply
well i took the back off, it doesnt have a voltage switch, and the fuse has definately blown. It is also soldered in so will be a right hassle to replace.
Ive also noticed on the thing the guy gave me it says in tiny writing on the back "warning this does not convert voltage". If the synth has been damaged by this im going to go nuts!! |

well ive spoken to Gee Electronics today and hes going to take a look at it for me. Hopefully its just a fuse. He's recommended billing Maplins for their misadvice.
Guys a bit of a legend, worked with everyone from the beatles to servicing ladytrons gear. Which will do for me!! |
