Is the Nord Electro 3 a Nord Stage without synth? |
|
|
Hi
I was looking at the specs in Clavia site and was wondering if the Nord Electro 3 was basically a Nord Stage without the synth section?
I am hopping to buy a dedicate Clavia synth, a Nord Modular G2 or Wave, which seem both to be much better than Nord Stage inbuilt synth, but I would still love to have some nice piano sounds, which makes me wonder if the Nord Electro 3 would be the way to go, since it's quite cheaper and I wouldn't exactly need the Stage inbuilt synth.
In terms of Pianos and Organs, is it as good as the Stage?
Thanks in advance,
Best regards

The Stage is able, using splitt and A & B Panel, to produce different sounds at the same time; the Electro 3 is only able to sound one instrument at the time. That is quite a limitation! What made you think how the price difference became to be?

I was hopping the price was due to better keys and having a synth integrated.
So it is impossible to layer two sounds even if they use different engines (an organ and a piano), or even to use one engine in one area of the keyboard and other engine on the other?
And if I use it to control other synth, is it possible for me to split and use just one area of the keyboard for the electro and the other exclusively for the MIDI out?
Thanks in advance

the electro2/3 is monotimbral(one sound at a time)but the organ can be split or the lower manual can be controlled via midi to get two manuals with different drawbar settings
the electro3 has the latest c1 organ
the electro3/stage/ex can download the latest piano library
the stage is 6 parts multitimbral but 2 organs,2 pianos,2 synths, never 6 synths at once. 3 split zones ,layering, and up to 5 midi controller keyboards
its like having 2 or 3 electros plus 2 limited synths |

Thanks for your reply
By the way, the Stage isn't able to load other samples, right?
Will it be possible to do that with an OS upgrade or new hardware might be needed for that?
Cause the sample library with all the mellotron Samples seem really nice to have and if the Stage doesn't have it, it really puts the Electro on a good position.
The only let down is really the inability to do layers... :S
I really have to think about this... |

I'm with gearaholic on that one.
The synth section in the stage is actually pretty decent for a lot of meat + potato kinds of stuff. It's basic but the sound quality is really good. |
