I use Reason 4. I'm working on a project akin to Star of the Lid, Brian Eno & Keith Fullerton Whittman.

I'm interested in using field recordings and found sounds to create samples that I can manipulate into something I could use to create music.

I'm looking at getting a Zoom H2 Handy Recorder to gather some sounds... How would I go about editing those sounds into samples and use them in Reason? Is this something I could do on a free program such as Audacity?

Hi withmymonosynth!

What kind of editing do intend to do to these field recordings? Shorten the length, Volume, Efx processing, all the above???

Audacity can certainly do some of this. Then you could drop into Reason and blast it...sure.
You will need to convert the recording to a wav. or mp3 to work with most software

You should check out our Field Recordings section on the forum: http://www.electro-music.com/forum/forum-179.html

All recordings are free to use. Add some if you have something interesting you want to throw in as well!
