My setup. The G2 is on a sliding shelf always infront of me while working in logic or the editor. The chair is a new-production Panton and it is great! For me it is important to have everything within an arms reach. Behind the white doors sits all the rack-stuff as well as the mac and a turntable. I like having a tidy setup and I manage to write a lot more tunes in that kind of setting.

Now, show me your setups!

Regards

Thanks Seraph. As the G2 is my main instrument I just love to see it in different settings and get ideas from how others use it together with different gear. I didn't intend to Spam the forum. I just wanted a thread where I could find more of just G2-based setups. I know there are other threads with pictures of setups, but as I said - the G2 is my main instrument - and I love seeing just setups with it so I get new ideas on how people integrate it with other gear.

Regards

Rasmus

fac: that is really nice! two questions though. Do you integrate the real modular in your patchings? (in what ways) and Any reason in perticular for staying CRT screenwise? (I would guess the magnetic-leaks would keep me from putting it so close to other technology).

Thanks! I just went through a downsizing stage. Sold a bunch of stuff and bought the Prophet, Machinedrum, and a Waldorf Pulse that is not shown in the picture (the first two were planned, the Pulse was an impulse buy - exactly what I did not want to do).

Well, let's just say that I sold an Oberheim Matrix 6R, Ensoniq ESQ-1, and Korg MS2000R to finance the Prophet 08, and I couldn't be happier. The P08, Matrix and ESQ-1 are also Curtis-based, so they all have a similar sound... but the P08 definitely sounds better, and its architecture is complex enough to replace the other three.

It's probably not as fat as your mopho, but I didn't want it for fat basses, anyway. I wanted something that was easy and fast to program (unlike the Matrix 6R and to some extent the ESQ-1) and more or less had the features of the gear I was selling (4 LFO's and 3 envelopes as the ESQ-1, modulation matrix as the Matrix 6R, step sequencers as the MS2000R, etc.). The Prophet 08 fit the bill perfectly.

Do you mean integrating the analog modular with the G2 at patch level? Not really. All I've done is sequencing the dotcom with the G2 by sending MIDI notes. I need a better MIDI/CV converter to be able to send CC info.

However, I like to integrate the dotcom with my other gear. See the rack to the right of the dotcom? There is a Mobius sequencer, and three Electrix effect units, all plugged through the patchbay on the bottom. They are also in a MIDI chain, so they're always in sync. I love doing stuff like taking a pad sound from the Nord Lead 3 and vocoding it with a sequence coming from the dotcom using the WarpFactory, then running the result through the MoFx to add a bit of flanger and delay... it sounds beautiful. Or, grab a beat from the MPC-500 (also not shown) and ring-modulate it with the dotcom oscillators, which are being sequenced with the Mobius, then run that through the FilterFactory and add more modulations using the dotcom oscs and sequencer.

One day I'll buy a big 8-bus mixer, so I can take any synth and run it through the G2, or the Machinedrum, or the Waldorf XT, then through some effects, and back to the dotcom, or whatever. I want my whole studio to be one big modular synth. Smile

Yes, there's a reason. I never get to buy a new monitor because I always spend the money on synths.

I'm curious, why are those guitars so small? Wait- there are 8 strings on the one to the right. Are those electric mandolins?

Are those stringed-things being processed by the G2?
Is Billy playing those? Got mp3?

Oh, but they sound so different. I wish I still had my micro but I sold it shortly after I got my G2.

I always wanted a G2 in a micro size. Maybe with a high-impedance input, and a few foot switches? It'd make for a great F/X pedal.

Yeah, I have another desk on which my computer, speakers and Mres are located but I am very much out of space. Need to build upwards, shelving etc. I suppose.

It has somewhat curbed my GAS though as anything I buy now, not only do I have to work out how to patch it in (midi/audio) but also where it can be physically located. Which is annoying as I am starting to GAS for a MFB Kraftzerg.

The area has already said goodbye to a few items of kit that are either lurking under the table (a compressor, effects unit etc) gathering dust or boxed up ready for ebay (Yamaha CS15, Korg Kaoss Pad 3). Really need to get my butt in gear and get some of the stuff i am not using sold.

@bob

The drinks go precariously next to the mouse and keyboard.. eek!

TBH: though its the best set-up I've ever had, everything is swish of the swivel chair away at worst and its nearly all covered in dials, buttons and flashing lights. Very Happy
