Laughing Yes, in a way, I make patches that listen to other patches, and that gets looped with time delay.

edit : but it is not self learning, I program it, but still it does stuff at times Shocked

Precisely, this is what I meant. No need for machine "learning" necessarily.

That was you right, with every vocal like timbre rising endlessly?
What kind of tuning did you use? Interesting melodies and harmonies.

Great show - Thanks for the tip! Smile

Glad you liked it, but don't ask me about harmony & scales ... I tried to get into that with books and exercises ... but I'm no talent there ... that being said however, the iphone did an overtone sequence, harmonic series ... then on the NM Classic I played some gypsy scale ... that's all I know about it .. oh and I tried to match the G2s with that.

Ah, that's what I liked about it - never settling, just meandering around the meadow.

Yeah, I'm with you - no need for music theory - see sound so clearly sometimes it gets in the way Wink

Apologies for the thread tangent.

Now where did I put that G2? Embarassed

Thank you Smile

Yeah, the TI is a good workhorse synth. My G2 will always be *my* synth... but I needed something that could do a lot, and quickly.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with that problem.
I can't tell an up beat from a down beat (and that goes for quarks too) Wink

Sorry to hear that. I hear a vaccine is under development though...

I bought one long time ago, second hand. It lasted only one week in my hands! Amazingly capable synthesizer, but too dark sounding for my taste. I wonder how the TI compares.

Too dark? Do you mean lacking in high freqs? too spooky? too edgy? too distorted? The analog boost which is on by default and tuned quite low does give extra weight to the waveforms. I presume it is just a gentle slope eq, was it this that was the culprit?

It certainly sounds very different from the Nords. I think it sounds softer and warmer than the Nords so far but I haven't really dug that deep yet though. The onboard reverbs and delays are pretty nice and the phaser has a ton of swoosh. Smile

I don't know what it was exactly, but I didn't like it, I didn't fall in love with it like it happened with my Nord Rack 2X. It didn't sound bad by any means.

Luckily I could sell it for a bit more than the price I paid for it in the USA ^_^

Funny you say that, cos whilst I like it and am pretty sure I will end up loving it, I am also pretty sure it will never steal any love away from my G2.

it won't steal your love away, I promise.

yes, I LOVE my virus... for what is is... but I LOVE my nord... for what it is.

I think modularly though... and a lot of my enjoyment comes from coming up with new approaches... patch this there, audio rate modulation here... etc

I was tired though, of having to patch more traditional sounds that I could achieve faster and easier with a different synth. i was also tired of the limited polyphony on said patches.

but I don't mean to downplay just how much the virus does... i dont just do simple patches with it. I think there is a lot to say about having a fixed architecture synth.... working within boundaries. it can force you to unexpected results, by having to use your mind to find ways around obstacles, or just to get the most out of what is given to you.

the virus can make some pretty wild sounds.... it has wavetables for one... which the nord does not.

i think they are a match made in heaven really.... the g2 and the virus... they both do what they were made to do, extremely well, and both sound fantastic.

Had a fun jam with the MD, G2 and VC last night and they sounded great together. Not least as they are all so different. Having so many dials of key features at my disposal made the jam really flow well.

That's what I think it would be nice, but I don't know which one to buy (without breaking the bank).

I use a Yamaha 01X mixer for all my gear, which has Compressor and EQ in all channels and a pair of decent FX units, but I have the feeling that the overall sound I get from my synths is a bit lifeless. They sound better through the headphone output to me.

Do you guys think that an analog mixer would sound better?
