There are some interesting sounds there, does the Cello have a midi pickup? |

Very cool Gov!
Wow I bet you can pull off all sorts of mid-east sound not having frets!
A crazy ethnic thing with long delay would be haunting.
Thanks for your clip.

Very nice, I enjoyed that! Hope you upload more soon, the microtonal and timbral possibilities of a cello, combined with the HOG/VG combo is truly fascinating! _________________ Where there are too many policemen, there is no liberty. Wow, I didn't expect this many kind responses! Thanks, everyone!
Yes, the cello has an RMC polyphonic pickup system, with the electronics in a separate box (EQ and gain sliders, mono out, GK out, battery). Todd chose RMC for the sound quality first and foremost - the potential for MIDI was kind of a bonus. RMC (Richard McClish) was one of the brilliant minds behind the Zeta MIDI violin. Here's his website: http://www.rmcpickup.com/
At some point I will combine this instrument with the product of another brilliant Zeta alumnus - Keith McMillen's StringPort.
I'm currently pursuing my jazz DAW "living template" idea, in which I create a DAW project for each jazz tune. Last night, I recorded the bass line, chords, and some of the melody line on guitar, cello, and keys for jazz cellist/educator Chris White's tune "Mello Cello Blues". What makes it a living template is that I'll rerecord one or more parts to the tune as part of my jazz practice. Thus, a little sloppiness here or there during initial recording doesn't bother me so much, though I guess it would be fun to do occasional masters of the DAW project to document my progress. One interesting thing I discovered, while fooling around with a guitar solo, with the Roland VG-99's Fender Twin model is I can hear the virtual springs in the virtual amp's virtual reverb unit go "boing" when I accent certain notes on the guitar. So far, the HOG has only been used for adding lower octaves to the cello for the bass line, but one never knows. _________________ Current and recent work on Soundcloud
