how to get to Bloomingdale from NYC? Subject description: public transit anyone? |
|
|
does anyone know of a way that people could get out there and back from NYC via public transit? buses? trains? helicopter? submarine?
how far from the festival is the nearest drop off/pick up point?
I want to advise my interested friends to go to the festival... but city folk don't usually have cars!
any advice or hints are appreciated!
thanks!

There is supposed to be a bus from NYC that stops at the camp entrance. It is another couple of miles to the festival site. We can arrange to have someone pick them up at the entrance. _________________ www.gregwaltzer.com |

You'd be crazy to come all the way from Seattle to Newark New Jersey
and not NYC !
Once you choose new york city you will agree. It will make the three days
bus trip even more worth it.
Besides there is not much to see in Newark NJ.

My wife and I are driving up from Florida. We're staying in Wayne, NJ.
I'll be at the festival, but we're also doing NYC. The restaurants are too good there to pass up, I have never been to the museum of modern art (I want to see an Escher woodcut!), and she wants to see a Broadway play. We don't get out much, you know. _________________ http://www.virb.com/waynehiggins

Looking at flights, I might not get into NYC til around midnight on Wednesday, would it be best to stay overnight in NYC then get the bus over Thursday morning? _________________ Jez

Maybe. The trouble is that staying in NY is very expensive, though I suppose there may be a hotel at the airport that's less so.
I wonder if there is a plausible wan to get to Bloomingdale from Newark Liberty Airport. If so, it might make more sense. |

It would be great to know how to get there from Newark Airport on public transit. I might not want to rent a car if it will just sit there for 3 days.

There is a bus that goes from Newark Airport to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York. It leaves every 15 minutes and costs $15. There is also a bus from the Port Authority terminal to Bloomingdale.
So far, I have not found a more efficient way to get from Newark to Bloomingdale by public transportation than to go via New York, even though it is somewhat out of the way. Nevertheless, I would guess that it takes significantly less time to get from Newark to the Port Authority terminal than it takes to get there from JFK or Laguardia. |

I figure there will be plenty of friendly people at the festival with cars and cellphones. |

Send Mosc a PM and get his cell phone number. Call when you arrive at the bus stop, and we'll send someone to pick you up. _________________ www.gregwaltzer.com |
