UnInstalling Arturia's Demo VSTs; Files appear hidden/etc. |
|
|
Strolled around the forum for a bit looking for a bit about it, couldn't really find anything on the subject, so, decided to bring this topic up...
I've installed three demo VSTs of Arturia, their Moog Modular V, MiniMoog V and CS-80. I decided to buy their CS-80, so, obviously, went to uninstall the demo of the CS-80 (I don't much care about getting involved in the two Moog emulations for the time being, even though they are pretty nice), but couldn't find pretty much any trace of it on my computer, which is a first gen Macbook Pro.
I went the manual route and searched through User / Library / Audio / Plug-Ins / VST, and, am only able to see four VSTs (various compressors and distortion effects) I installed a while back manually via a .vst being in a .zip opposed to the normal .dmg installation of VSTs.
I run Ableton Live 8, and so, even while I can't find or see the three demos anywhere on my computer, I can plainly see AND use all three from Ableton's VST browser. That and when I'm browsing through my VST folder through Ableton's preferences, in the little browse for box (you know, the normal box that pops up in windows and mac when searching for a file to open or something), they're all clearly visible, in the User / Library / Audio / Plug-Ins / VST folder, when searched in the Finder they remain invisible.
So, anyone know anything about this or have any sort of input? I've searched around Google's roots on the subject too, and, haven't really found anything, so, any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Merci in advance! |

Here are the files & folders to clean:
/Applications/Arturia CS-80V/
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/CS-80V.vst
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/CS-80V.component
/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins/CS-80V.dpm
/Library/Preferences/CS-80V/
/Library/Receipts/CS-80V.pkg
Install directly from the online update, do not insert your original CD until being explicitly prompted, and enter the license as well.

Good luck, trying to install the Prophet-V after I had already installed the demo was an absolute nightmare.
Forget Arturia support as well they never answer support calls.
Rant over......... |

Hey, thanks for the reply, and, I tried most of that, mainly including deleting the 'Arturia CS-80V' folder out of my Applications folder, with avail to rid it from my VST list... and the other, .component, .dpm, .pkg, etc., are no where to be found =S
I may just try installing the REAL VST to an external drive of mine and seeing if I can run it off of there... if I can't resolve the problem, of course.
Strange, though, when browsing around in the finder, it's like they've gotten scared and hidden under a rock... but when I browse from my DAWs VST browser, they're right there waiting.

Yea, turning out that way my way too. Fortunately, I'm only using the VST (for now anyways) for one of its horn patches, and, I've been recording in relatively short patterns, then exporting that... where, normally in Arturia's demos, they randomly glitch a bit and cut the sound... it doesn't much do that while exporting audio my way (well, I've exported about five patterns so far, and they've come out clean).
