MIDI keyboard problem Subject description: Failure of Windows XP to accept input from a "MidiPlus 61" keyboard. |
|
|
For over five months I have been trying to interface a "MidiPlus 61" keyboard to a Windows XP system running on an Acer TravelMate 4150 laptop.
This keyboard works fine when driving, say, the "Key West" software running in Windows 98 on an old desk-top machine and using the Windows drivers, etc. There seem to be no similar facilities in Win XP
I have obtained the MidiPlus-specific drivers from www.miditech.de and from the apparent manufacturers: "Ta Horng" (at www.zhangduo.com).
"MIDI-OX" and "ASIOforall" seem not to recognise the "Phecda" drivers sold to me as appropriate to the MidiPlus 61.
Can anyone please help? |

Is it USB?
Is the version of XP updated to Service Pack 2 or greater? _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

Good Morning Uncle Krunkus!
Thanks for reply.
I have installed SP3 on this "XP home" installation.
Basically, all I want to do is to play a "Pianoteq" installation from this commercial MIDI controller.
But no joy! |

I've never tried "asioforall" so I'm not sure if that could be the problem. Is midi getting through to the midi-ox? _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

Midi and Win XP Subject description: XP on the Acer TM 4150 fails to "See" MIDI USB input. |

Hello again!
"ASIO4ALL" seems to be well thought of by musicians - reduces latency by bypassing most of Microsoft's stuff.
Although MIDIOX lists "Phecda" as a driver, it doesn't "See" the MidiPlus 61 (which works fine when plugged into an old "Tiny" machine running Windows 98 ).
"Phecda" (ghastly word) is the driver I obtained from the MidiPlus agent.
Plugging and unplugging the MidiPlus/USB registers on both "USB controllers" and "Sound Video and game controllers" in Device Manager.
The MidiPlus 61 is a MIDI controller as well as a simple keyboard but no function has any effect on the laptop. (Should I install Win 98 just to handle the keyboard?!)
The MIDI stream is not seen at all on the existing system.
(I've been trying, on and off, for over five months!) |
