A little chat for traders only...
bantri wrote: | I strongly advise you to install it with a us$ 100k demo account, and use the levelstop and extrapolator mql4 scripts... it´s like having a cristal ball for predicting the market. |
Riding market waves is not so obvious at this point, as i have seen my 100k demo account evaporate to almost zero in a weekend...
At this point the conclusions i have from this "audio related" research are:
-Experience is what you get, when you don´t get what you want.
-Never get too greedy to put 50 lots in a single bet.
(Currently i use 0.1 lots starting size)
-Monitoring every market opening/closing, in every country, is a must.
(Strange things happen at those time points)
-Some brokers definitely add noise, delay, gaps and strange peaks in the small period price oscillations, to sweep the small game players.
-If you don´t make your robot operate in stealth mode by adding some noise too, probably you will be spotted and eliminated of the game.
-Using lagless digital filters with minimum ripple, is definitely better than using moving averages.
-Martingale exponentials are the most profitable and the most kamikaze strategies, and, if used, must be used with the Kelly criterion.
-Fourier analysis is quite a tool, but forecasts based on it, tend quickly to evolve to chaotic behavior.
-Nash equilibrium is a must for operating in small time periods.
-It´s very fun to ride the hourly/daily waves, as long as you always keep an eye on the big, weekly/monthy/yearly or even the secular waves.
http://scienceblogs.com/corpuscallosum/upload/2009/04/Limits%20ot%20Growth%20Forecast.png
-"Levy flight" waves, are definitely better than Brownian waves, to represent the forex, but unfortunately for brokers, and fortunately for traders, this means that the standard Black-Scholes equation, that is widely used, sometimes fails.

I think we need another topic for trading - vis a vis audio/synthesis. You mentioned several topics I don't even know what they are. )
I've started something in Schmooze. This way, the G2 devotees following your work won't be bothered by trading talk and the traders that don't care about the G2 will be able to follow that discussion. To me, these things are quite related because the G2 is really a virtual analog computer - at least partially.

Yep... I agree... The G2>Reaktor is already a big topic and the Relationship Trading>Audio Synthesis is another big one... they should be separated...
Next trading related subjects will go there. |

+1, thanks too, Mosc. Nothing personal, Bantri, I just feel my hackles starting to rise when I see posts about that subject. I'd better shut up now before I really get myself into trouble.

Instead of focusing in audio synthesis, why not focusing in work?
I already gave the *entire* source for ReaktorG2 and there was not a single soul here able to spend some time to build a single lousy module.
How about spending the time to write all this criticizing, to do some useful work instead?
(as for anyone making public advertisement dramas about leaving this topic, please save your typing, just feel free to leave) |
hi hi.. i just see this now.. looks interesting..
i just try to transfer some of m g2 patches to reaktor and would like to check what youve done sofar..
You want a plain g2 module base? i just patched a widely used building block from the G2 into eaktor,,an event change trigger..
wouldnt it be maybe usefull to have some macro modules that contain often used building blocks ?
ok i guess thats what everybody can do themself...
i am still loolking wher to find your ensemble..is it in the NI user lib?
greats and
a happy new year..

Theres a link in 4shared for the full work in a previous message...
To my knowledge it´s still there... but is a very big file with all the modules knobs bitmaps vector images etc...
have fun
(I´m considering pausing this for a while, to see if NI guys at least make some nice wiring scheme in the front panel for the next version...) |

Coming from Bantri, Better than Reaktor, is an astounding statement. Wow.
Usine is something we have discussed on electro-music.com before, but that's the strongest endorsement I might imagine; and it just pops up suddenly like this.
There are MANY people who have gotten Reaktor, played other peoples instruments, but when it came to patching gave up because of the difficult to manage complexity. I've never tried it because of the expense. But you, Bantri, have mastered Reaktor and are, apparently, comfortable and used to it. That's why I say, wow.
I've tried Usine and I liked it a lot. I'll have to take another look. My G2X is getting pretty old. When it goes out, I'll be in shit shape as a musician.
The Usine developer is a member here. His username is svivens
What's that, Bantri said, Better than Reaktor?

No fooling at all... It is definitely better.
(It solves a huge number of pitfalls that i´ve had previously...)
Should i mention a few ones? (oh yes...)
It´s *one* guy making it, (and that´s impressive... it´s no easy work) with complete development focus *only on that product*... and not a company with several other products, with higher priority, that keeps stalling improvements for years to come in other products. And as *an individual* he´s far more reachable, to discuss users suggestions and improvements.
All the files are saved in text format. (it´s like comparing manipulating nord G1 text files versus nord G2 encripted *blackbox* format)
It uses nothing less than the "Intel DSP Library DLL´s" (and i know nothing more optimized than that, for DSP)
It´s has an internal pascal scripting compiler ?
It does block array FFT and inverse FFT using the Intel library ?
It has an SDK for visual C++ ?
It loads VST´s inside the interface ?
It accepts multi-touch display control for live performances ?
No more grid ? (pixel by pixel adjustment with position locking for *every* object.)
Module wirings and conection points have more categories than control and audio ? (with different colors ?)
Module conection points have long names ?
True type font texts of any size at all in the panel ?
and the list goes on... |

Hi,
As being a member of the Usine community, i can tell you that svivens is not the developper of Usine...Olivier Sens is the only developper and we are a few to give him help on different aspects of Usine. Olivier Sens cares really about his users...
Doremifasol, perhaps your computer locked up because of your asio setup...
In anyway, Usine and G2 is a wonderfull modular setup!

I'd read about Usine before, but had to Google it to recall as to why I did not consider it further... No Mac version.
Best wishes, however, to the Usine community - more toys for us to play with means more fun! _________________ Current and recent work on Soundcloud

Usine looks quite promising. I had installed it but had forgotten about it. After seeing Bantri's creation, it definitely deserves more investigation.
I've been dabbling with Audio Mulch & Plogue Bidule now & then too.
I haven't used either enough to make any statements.
Between these 3 program, there are a lot of audio processing capabilities waiting to be tapped. _________________ Free Tibet. Release the Panchen Lama from prison. Let the Dalai Lama return to his home. |
