As a long term project I'm hoping to put together a custom monophonic analogue keyboard synth using a variety of DIY modules from various designers.

One thing I'm having trouble with is the keyboard itself. I want it to be fully analogue, so no MIDI involved, but I can't seem to find much info about control voltage based keyboard solutions anywhere... I'm probably going to base it on a Fatar keybed, but with regards controller/interface circuitry I'm a little stumped. Ideally I'd like velocity control too... Is this possible? I'm probably a little out my depth here, but that's how I learn quickest....

there is a doepfer kit. they mention fatar keybeds on the website, so that should work

, and there's the mfos Single Buss 1V/Octave Keyboard Controller:

(i think you'd have to use another, simpler keyboard for that)

Here's my voltage summing setup. Has a few advantages, it's dirt cheap, mindlessly easy to build and requires a minimum of components. It's also very compact, you get a little more than an octave (15 notes) using just four switches (theoretically it could be doubled, giving you 255 notes with 8 switches). With decent trimmers (I only had some garbage one-turn ones to experiment with) and some tweaking on the summing/inverting opamp stages it should be possible to get fairly accurate 12 tet tuning out of if. I call it The Left Hand of Creation after a line from Doom Patrol.
Also a pic of what it looks like assembled on perfboard minus the opamp.
