Based on this this (http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-38534.html) thread in the main Discussion area ("Try Before you Buy") I would like to gauge interest in a South West of England meet.

At the moment this is literally a 'feelers out'; nothing at all is planned. However, given sufficient interest, I could almost certainly arrange a venue in Plymouth, and after all, the South West is pretty well stocked with big names (Bob Williams/ASys, Peter Zinoviev/EMS, Peter Forrest)...

What do we think?

(Equally of course, I'd be very willing to travel myself to a meet provided it wasn't too far, and there were lots of synths!)

I'd certainly be interested in coming down from London. What timeframe are we talking about, are you thinking in the spring, or sooner?

Great! Interest!

One thing though, I would feel bad about necessarily saying "South West" if the predominant interest were from elsewhere in the country; I'd certainly be prepared to travel also.

I'd have thought early spring was the most sensible. To be honest, I'm not sure what would be involved, having never attended (let alone suggested) anything like this before.

The object of the exercise from my point of view would be to meet some like minded fellows/fellowessess and try some (mainly modular) equipment which would be otherwise very hard to get to use so I can make a decision on what I'd like to get for myself.

What is usually involved? What would be required over and above a venue?

I'm interested in this as well.

Are we talking just meeting up, or some gigs/jams as well?

A good question indeed. The difference to me is an afternoon (or one day with travel) versus a weekend (and a place to eat, sleep, etc). I suppose it would depend on how many people wanted to show and what more people think. Personally I'd be fine with a meet, but always open to jam.

It would be nice to have a sleep over, for me things are always better if you aren't travelling there and back on the same say.

Also evenings tend to be when people relax and converse more.

the South West is too far for me to do in a day, so I'd need to stay over somewhere

Hi,

New to the forum but have been hovering for a while. Definitely be interested in both a meet and a jam if possible. Does anyone have any contact with David from Postmodular as it'd be nice to see some of the Harvestman modules up close.

It'd make a change from solitary knob twiddling Very Happy

or even the ferry from Rosslare to Fishguard...

Just a bump to add another potentially interested voice.

My current contract will be ending right before Easter (end of March) and I was contemplating a trip down that way to visit some friends, sometime around then.

It would have to be a weekend, tho' - not just a day.

Have X-Station 25, diddley bow and echo box - will travel Smile

If needed, I can supply the venue. I am based in central Bristol and run a cafe/bar here. When there's a weekend where we have nothing on (summers get quiet) I can host the event if there is interest.

Parking is a bit of a problem but "delivery" is not, and there are plenty of bed and breakfasts in the area.

Rob's cafe would be ideal for a small get together, so I'm in Smile
