yo

iv been making trance/electro/house styles of music for about 2 years now. i have no troubles getting the sounds i want most of the time. however when it comes to structuring a track iv been getting abit stuck latly. i usally start with the drums/bass and maby a hook but normally end up getting stuck once i have an idea down. what are some good ways to build and structure an electro house track from scratch without getting stuck?

welcome Sean!

We all get stuck now and then, and we all have different ways of dealing with it. Sometimes it helps to leave the project alone for a while - completely forget about it and come back with a fresh head. Sometimes it helps to turn on instruments and just start playing around with no intention of creating something specific. You could even hit "record" and listen back later for ideas when you do that. You could also start remixing what you already have, and sometimes ideas spring from that.

Hey Sean try this site, I hope it gives you some help dude.

My advice is, just be experimental with your arrangement - basically I follow my own arranging guide rather than a forumla that is already out there. This is in my effort to be experimental and keep my music fresh and different.

if nothing else helps try structuring using the 'golden ratio'

it may seem like a crazy answer but trust me it works Smile

My advice, just copy the arangment from another track you like. If your sound is different, no1 will notice, and it will work.

And, verry important; Dj a lot, it help making your tracks more dancable and better in arrangement.

You mean the one that goes *Deck the halls with balls of wankers, fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la fart!*?
