I've been working on a beat slicing algorithm for a while now and it's going pretty well. However today for no apparent reason Supercollider crashed, now whenever I attempt to boot the local host server this is returned :

booting 57110
RESULT = 0
ERROR:
server failed to start

It doesn't show my inputs/outputs when I start up either, also whenever I try to boot the internal server supercollider instantly quits. I have tried re-installing and using Time Machine but to no avail. Please help as I would really like to continue using this incredible software.

I've sometimes seen that the server gets "stuck" somehow. Usually this is resolved by:

Server.killAll;

... then restarting the server.

Eventually, we found this was caused by a corrupted .scsyndef file in the synthdef directory (SynthDef.synthDefDir) -- deleting all files in there allowed the server to restart again.
