An eChucK Vision! Subject description: I have seen the light! |

After nearly completing this Karplus Strong modular board and planning the next one, I am turning my eye to the future of eChucK modular boards and have come up with a really nice observation.
Many of the software models using delay lines and math to create models of instruments like flutes, woodwinds, and trumpets, etc. These algorithms are directly translatable into analog circuit form, so we can make modules for modular synthesizers like "flute", etc.
Would that be cool or what? How would you like to plug your favorite sequencer into a Trombone model? This can be done and I see it emerging as a new modular synthesizer technology.
What do you think?

Les,
I'm up for it! I like the idea of dedicated instruments....or instruments limited to a certain range of ideas. I think we all learned that all-in-one instruments are usually never as good as instruments dedicated to doing one thing very well. Hope that makes sense! _________________ Synth DIY since 1977! |

Well Dan, these modules offer a lot of density because it takes a handful of modules to make them in general purpose form, plus they are um, instruments not pieces parts so cool on that. So what do others think?

Dude, I'll probably need beta testers. Boards will be reasonably priced, etc...

p.s. but what I'm really hoping for is to stir up a little interest in the existing modular guru community and make some way cool modules together. That would be like an explosion on the scene, and good for electro-music! _________________ "Let's make noise for peace." - Kijjaz |

Please see this thread in the eChucK sub-forum:
http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-40927.html
for a continuation of this discussion. I posted here to gauge interest and see if anyone wants to participate in the development, so there should be a different thread for the actual development details.
