Anyone know if the editing software will work under Window 7?

I did a quick search and didn't really have any luck.

I'm thinking about upgrading pretty soon but i'll stay xp if its going to have issues

I wouldn't make that statement since the G2 requires a special USB driver just to work on Vista/Windows 7.

The NM1/G1 doesn't require a USB driver, but there may be compatibility issues.

My editor looses contact with my NM1 rack after a couple of seconds. I use a E-Mu 2x2 interface and windows 7 x64 and the editor v3.03.

If you have another MIDI interface handy I'd try that ... NM has always been picky on the MIDI interface .. for me ever so since win95 and now on Vista, so likely on windows 7 too.

Or maybe you can try a compatibility mode (if having a windows 7 version supporting that on the end user level).

And welcome mimolizer.

Yes, the weird thing, that I forgot to mention is that the same setup works fine on my old computer with WinXp.

I tried using my M-Audio FireWire card as midi interface and it works! Thanks for the help! Must be the win7 drivers for the E-Mu 2x2 that are incompatible with the NM1.

If you're running W7- Have you tried using Virtual XP mode?
you'll need to download 3 installers from Microsoft to get a virtual xp machine running on W7.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

If you try this, let us know the results

I haven't tried Virtual XP, i have tried the compatibility mode though, and it didn't work. However, i've noticed that the E-Mu 2x2 complete destroys the performance of Cubase. When i run Cubase with the E-Mu plugged in, the sound glitches and as soon as I unplug it, everything works fine. Probably faulty drivers for the E-MU.

Hello,

This is my first post and it is regarding the Micro Modular's communication
with the Editor (Both Clavia / Nomad versions) on Windows 7 x64.

My main interface is a MOTU 828 MK3, I have tried using the midi in/out on the 828
exclusively for the NM's Pc port and it reads "Waiting.." then followed by
"Still Waiting.." on the Clavia Editor.

Nomad seems to be the way to go based on reading what others are saying,
though I cannot seem to get this editor to find the NM either.

(A good way to start Nomad I found is to make a simple ".bat" file using
notepad and the command line "java -jar nomad.jar".)

I have tried both applications in XP Mode as well as a Virtualized Win 98SE.

Ideally, I would like to use a separate midi interface for the modular, So
I went ahead and picked up a M-Audio Midisport Uno 1x1 Usb Interface.

This also will not allow communication to either software editor.
However, once the Uno has been connected to the NM the LED light on
the Uno will begin flashing rapidly displaying activity.

Has anyone else experienced difficulties in Win7?
Has anyone got it working? Any Ideas?

Clavia editor v3.03 works fine here on win 7 x64, using either m-audio midisport uno or midisport 8x8s.

@twisted: was there anything further to your initial setup other than installing
the latest Uno driver and running the clavia 3.03 editor and selecting your midi ports?

I executed this same procedure and ended up with only "Still Looking.." for hours..
with quite a bit of sysex data being shifted around judging by the send light on the Uno.

At least I can now confirm that the Uno is a device which can handle such
demanding requirements. (as stated in the NM manual) *checks it off the list*

Also, a software/driver incompatibility is not likely the issue. Perhaps another piece
of software/driver is conflicting as I also own a MOTU MTP AV.

I just downloaded the editor from clavia, and ran it, no special options or compatibility modes.
The driver I'm using with the uno is 5.10.0.5141

Nord Modular Editor v3.03 responded immediately displaying
all patches in all it's gloriousness.

Amazing. Excuse me while I punch myself in the nuts a few times.

I am using the Clavia NM editor 3 in Windows 7 and yes, it works fine for me. I chose "run as XP service pack 3" under the options>compatibility tab and also "run as administrator." May not even be necessary, though...
