a new gimmick is finished ans contains a 4bit ALU - arithmetical-logical unit - it can do math. 4bit = 16 steps - 1 bar - sequencer.
it has a clock and S/S/Go input, a switch and 16 outs - for each result one.
the ALU has: 2 operands A & B, the function itself get clocked by a counter, the result goes to a line decoder ans trigger converter.
the result is visualized.
cased of the constant values but variant function the result varies in different ways - some combinations has every value of the 4bits but as difference sequence Smile
to trigger percussive sounds - 2 beatboxes in bad condition have to die for external trigger (will be 19" case)

power is curetronic - DotCom can be a place problem:
top & bottom place for mounting is 10mm - not 12,7 for 1/2"...

i found out some values to keep explicit every value result - 16 different values at 16 steps - each are triggered; mostly at arith. & logical:

13 - 6, 13 - 7, 11 - 4, 11 - 7, 10 - 4, 6 - 4

highest bit seems to be different.

I'm very curious as to what the sequences SOUND like! Very Happy Any sound clips of them?
How is it operating? PIC / ARM based?

me, too - sound demo not yet - it's like an semi-random sequencer Smile
i need 16 sound generators, esp. 2 beatboxes which i still need 1.

it's an ALU inside, the 74181, and a 4514 line decoder.

Ohhhp. Surprised Smile Leaves me out of building, for the mo' then. Wink

16 sound generators? Could the outputs not be summed, or logically dealt with? Or to a multiplexer? (Or - am I missing the point here? Surprised Smile ) Coming back to summing, I think could be gooder. No?

Oh, very nice! I've been wanting to build something with ALU chips for a while now. I bought some 74181s and 40181s, but haven't quite done anything with them yet.

I thought it would be interesting to have voltage control over the operation (using a 4-bit ADC or something), but just clocking it seems like a good idea too.

after years of developing, i did an eurorack version w/ dual CV input (w/ ADC). zero series on ebay, full version has 4mm LEDs. 65-70 mm deep, 22 UE wide.

Here's one I made for my diy optically patched synth. It uses 2 bits of a 74ls181 ALU chip. The 4 control inputs, which select any of the sixteen possible logic functions, are the 4 in a circle around the "C".
