This look interesting but given the cost, I think an Encore Expressionist is a better buy, and also has 8 channels

Yeah looks like a very interesting gadget! Looking at the Expressionist, I don't get the impression that it's exactly the same thing? There's no MIDI on this expander, or am I missing something?

The Expressionist is a MIDI-CV converter with 4 global LFOs, very different beast.

This just looks like an LFO module with CV and pedal control. Given that the number of working CV controlled Yamaha, Moog and ARP synths is finite (and getting smaller every day as they wear out and don't get repaired/refurbished) it's kind of odd they'd be trying to market this specifically for those synths rather than putting this in a modular format.

Oh, and their compatibility chart is a bit misleading. I don't know about the Odyssey, but the ARP Axxe's "pitch" CV input disconnects the keyboard when you jack anything into it. It's set up to act as a slave synth in that configuration, so technically this unit could modulate the Axxe's pitch, but it would be the ONLY pitch control over the synth if you did that...100% of incoming CV would be applied to the Axxe's pitch. Hooking this into the pedal input, however, would control the VCF's frequency.
