hi folks
i have an m audio profire 2626 interface which i use with my desktop PC. I've recently acquired a snow leopard macbook which, of course, has no firewire port. Will a firewire equipped usb hub work? (Somehow i have a feeling that the answer will be no)...
thanks in advance.

It may work, but bandwidth will be limited. A USB hub can't transfer data like a proper firewire port can.
Better get a 17" macbook pro if you need a machine that supports any of the more professional interfaces... Sad, but true.
Personally I've been disappointed that apple dropped the fw ports and the expresscard slot in 2008 from all their MBPs except the most expensive model. Confused

I have MBP 2008 model myself which has expresscard and FW...All of them are used for firewire connections at the moment: various harddisks for different duties and of course my audio interface. I may get a PC instead of another MBP if apple doesn't give more connectivity to their MBPs in the next series. Rolling Eyes

yeah i thought that the bandwidth difference might be a problem - which kind of defeats the point of using the m audio profire as a multi input mobile recording system. just as well the macbook was a work freebie.
