Free Guitar for Testing Purposes Subject description: Well, you pay shipping and pass it around... |

Greetings my fellow em guitar enthusiasts, I have a sweet deal for some of you. This "Own Your Tone" guitar prototype that I have built with DJ's support and assistance has been sitting around for over a year now doing nothing fast, and what I'd like to do is this: send it around the community for testing.
Whoever wants to reimburse me for shipping the guitar to them will be the first recipient of this interesting and novel type of guitar pickup system. The guitar works fine and requires no adjustment. Just plug it into an amp, crank up the distortion to emphasize the sound enhancement, and give it a try. You can keep it indefinitely as long as whenever you are done with it you ship it along to the next person who wants to try it out.
If there are no takers we might be able to find someone outside of em who would like to give it a try. Details of the guitar invention follow in another post.

Details of the guitar follow:
It's a fairly cheap guitar actually, a Fender Squire model. Fortunately it's a good one and has no manufacturing defect like Squires tend to have. I have extensively modified the geetar to add the Own Your Tone pickup system which consists of neodymium super magnets under the strings where you play them, electrically shorted tuning pegs, a wire running down the neck, and a signal boosting transformer hidden under the pick guard.
The guitar also has a factory / invention selector switch so that you can compare the sounds that it makes. You can tell what position the switch is in by adjusting the volume because the volume and tone pots only work on the factory position. So you crank volume down to zero and then the switch will move between silent (factory) and sound (invention). Then you can turn the volume up to about 7 or so for equal comparison once you understand which switch position is what.
The enhanced harmonics are most noticeable on the lower and mid notes and not so much on the upper notes of the guitar, due to transformer roll-off I believe. A later version of the guitar will have an opamp gain stage instead of the transformer which will improve that quite a bit I believe.
There are also secondary effects to explore such as the strange behavior observed when doing bends. The bends move the strings slightly to a subtly different location in the magnetic field pattern which warps the sound somewhat. Also, fingers on the fretboard cause very slight changes in the sound to be heard.
Those are most of the details. If anyone knows how to ship a guitar properly, your advice would be helpful as well. Thanks,
