Hi, I want to know if anybody's got experience with building your own ADC's to usb?

My soundcard (MAYA44 USB) recently broke down, and I stumbled upon somebody building their own simple ADC/DAC's.

I saw this guy do it with a stereo spdif/phono I/O - that'll be 2 in's and 2 outs.

The thing is, that I want at least 4 in's (and outs) for routing in MAX.

I found out, that it's a larger detective job to find something like that.
I saw this one for a very lo-fi 8-bit ADC - with 4 inputs!

It should be simple, to my mind. I've seen it done for video like this:

I really hope anybody can be of any help regarding this subject.
I'm keen to build this!

Best regards,
