I just wanted to tell you that I love your electronic reviews, and electro-music radio in general. I am relatively new to this community, but I am so happy to hear fresh releases from different electronic artists. It's been 10 years since I was listening to radio in Russia which had a station there that broadcasted fresh electronic music. In 2001 the radio station got shut down. Since then, I couldn't find anything even on internet to get good information and good independent music. Finally, this summer, after I started to write my own music for clarinet and electronics, I discovered this community. Now, every night I can fall asleep with some fresh, new and beautiful materials, produced by electronic and not only means!
Thank you so much, one more time!

Comments like this help remind us all how much we need to run the radio. Thank you for that. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

Show 48 - November 1, 2010
The comments during this show (ok, ranting) has a direct relationship to a chat encounter with someone who apparently doesn't think this is music. I beg to differ, on account of all the people who seem to think it is.
Anyway, I like how this ended up working.

Just listened through most of #48. Great "rant" (maybe I'm damaged by other flame-ridden forums but it sounded mostly like a friendly and informative monologue to me) - I find the whole definition of music thing as fascinating as it is difficult. Also, I was thrilled to hear a track of mine getting replayed.
Oh yeah: and the music in this show is never less than fascinating, often wonderful. _________________ Antimon's Window

Thank you, Stefan. I do rants, but you wouldn't really want to hear them, they are more like today, when I had to take the same stupid "ethics" course at work, that I did last year (I found the notes I took last year in my notebook), they could at least have changed the material, as well as the chief compliance officer. That warranted a rant at work, which had everybody near me giggling.
But usually, my response to ignorance is to educate. In this case, I doubt the actual person it was aimed for would ever listen, or knows I did this. But it made me feel better, especially as I was drawing in what the show is about, along with the music, and the background history of music, experimentation, and some other bits. I might do this some more, just because I feel so strongly that what we're doing has a purpose that isn't being served elsewhere.
And I like your music. That one was older, and not the style you usually do here, but that's exactly the point. I listened to my show 48 after and I'm pretty happy with it.
What I wish I could do more of is be able to speak about the artists better. I'm pretty sure a lot of these artists don't know how much they are being played. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

It was this piece, which also aired on Halloween during my slot, that caused a visitor to the chat to declare that it was "not music". I begged to differ and was told that I was (somehow) pompous. Well, to each his or her own. I really liked this music, and thanks for making it available. But this was the catalyst for the whole theme of this last Review. So thanks for that! _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

Just a good collection of tunes. Here's both the file and the playlist. |
Right .. and now we'd need something like ... a "how far we're into it thingie" sounds good .. but who ... is it ...
/me tries to put clever thinking on .. hears the spoken "that was on before" thingie now ... volumes too low ... not critics ... just wondering how we could make it better .. if at all ...

I wish I could get the metadata embedded in the mp3 archive, but that's not possible as far as I know. And I should stop mumbling. But I thought the best I could do is drop the playlist in and at least there's a voice between the tracks announcing.
I'm open to suggestions. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

I don't remember if I ever said, but I would be honored if my music was up to snuff enough to play on EER. _________________ There's an invisible radio gnome playing a gong from a flying teapot - don't miss out! |

All you have to do is point me at the music, and it has to be either posted on this site, in which case I can play it (subject to additional conditions but generally it's a safe thing) or someplace I can download it, with either explicit permission (I get that in an email usually so I can post into the permissions list) or CC license which is indicated with the download on the site I get the music from. Not having any of the above will cause me to look elsewhere.
In general, this is how the site operates. There are slight variants of playability, in that some people are ok with playlists but don't want downloading, but that is accommodated. If you posted to the forums, you don't mind being played on the station (read the forum rules again if you missed that, it's been there for many many years).
And although I actively search, it's fine to contact me if you want to be played. You might not be played in the next show, but you will be played appropriately with other artists comparable to you.
I am partial to experimental artists. That's what the Review is all about. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

Cool, thanks.

I consider my "Programmed Hell" series to be experimental, so that might fit in. I would get a huge kick out of hearing it played on EER.
My lyrical stuff might be somewhat experimental to others. No one has ever been able to say exactly what genre much of it falls into.
In addition, there's my site. There's more there than there is here, although everywhere here is also there. I generally try to post it here when I finish something, though, for convenience.
I hereby give you permission to play any and all of it on EER. I release all my music under a CC AT-NC-ND license. _________________ There's an invisible radio gnome playing a gong from a flying teapot - don't miss out! |

My 200th show of EER is happening tonight.
It's some kind of a milestone. I don't advertise this show actively but it's had a very loyal following along its 4+ years. I appreciate the listeners and I'm glad that I have this place to do something like this.
Thanks everyone! It's been good so far. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.
