Hi,

How does one set the bit depth for this ugen? I want to record a 32bit float wav file. In the documentation the only methods are to set the file type and close the file after the recording. Are there any other methods that aren't documented, or there extra arguments I can use in the .wavFilename method?

many thanks
s

I have a feeling that WvOut isn't one of the most used ugens in ChucK, let alone writing 32-bit wavs. Sorry I can't be of more help.

You could try joining the chuck-users mailing list, and posting a question there:

This ChucK subforum has been a bit quiet of late.

/Stefan

I looked at some source code and get the impression that WvOut in ChucK is not like the generic STK version in that it has the channelization and bit depth hard coded (1 and 16). (I discovered this since I was trying to see if there was some way to write a stereo audio file but the only way to do it is still to write a left and right mono file and combine them in your audio editor.)

Hello Smile been a while I thought I'd pop back into ChucK to see how it has developed. Liking all the new possibilities for extending with Chugens and such - opens up many possibilities.

I also noticed that the stereo ugens have evolved, including WvOut2, but it still seems that we are stuck with 16 bit file output. Is that something that slipped through the net perhaps, as I read in the chuck-users archive that it was going to be address in an update sometime ago.

Or are folk side stepping that ugen and using Jack or Soundflower?

Cheers
