Attached is the MP3 file, listened to pieces, it seems intact.
It was a combination of live playing of the guitar (first half) and banjo (second half), with delay lines, plus processed 1-, 2- and 3-bar uni-tone samples from all three instruments that I finger picked earlier in the week, using pitch shifting and time stretching and various DSP effects in Ableton Live to play them back.
The guitar is a 1994 Gibson JR-200 Junior (no pickups), the banjo is a 1995 Bart Reiter Whyte Ladie, and the mandolin is a ~1912 Gibson A1. The original bridge makes it tough to fret, and it is mostly hidden in the background of the piece. AKG Perception 400 condenser mic, Ableton Live 8, used my Roland GR33 guitar synth as a MIDI foot controller, and a ChucK patch to translate its MIDI messages to control Live while I pick.
Scale used: G A Bb C# D F F# G

Here's my set. About 25 minutes into the set, something happened and I had to reconnect. I picked it up from the coda and spliced the two sections together. Other than some fade-ins and fade outs at the beginning and end, it is as performed. The birds and other artifacts of nature performed in real time. So did the planes and cars.
Addendum:
For the introductory improv on the 19 June 2011 episode of Organized Sound with Dr. Steve (Episode # 31), I used the same basic setup as this piece with some patch and settings changes. Although similar, it is a different piece and has more of the dynamic flow I was building towards in the Summer Solstice piece.
It can be found here: http://electro-music.com/forum/post-333356.html#333356 .
Alas, since I needed the mic for the show, this version is lacking a few co-performers, namely the birds, planes, cars, etc.

Well, I think I figured out why I was unable to stream.
It goes back to last Thursday -- I gave a theremin performance and, in order to do the live-looped works, I have to reduce the buffer sizes (thus the latency) for the RME800.
However, NiceCast is unhappy with small buffer sizes -- and when I increased the buffer sizes, it worked.
So -- another note to myself -- when streaming, use large buffers.
Well, I will try this again and hopefully will not have problems in the future. _________________ -- Kevin

and here's the recording of our set for summer solstice/chez jez #6
Xan played: ipod, ipad, monotron, softsynths on mac controlled by dx100
Jez played: nord modulars, blofeld, putney, resonator & repeater
It was a pretty mellow set, with some nice drone and arp sections in the first half, a noisy transition then some more ambient bits and layered sequences in the second half
Chez Jez #6 - with special guest Xan Alexander _________________ Jez

Jan, one of your laptops looks like it has an Audio Cube grafted onto it. |

Dude, you should totally be a guest on Programmed Hell some time. I think it would be a neat mix. |
