I'm just wondering if there actually was an Episode 85 whilst I was off?

No, there was nothing on then - and I guess a volunteer for the, I assume, free slot of today could be used ...

This is my substituting for Rob episode from a couple of weeks ago, I've decide to call it #85 even though it happened after what I thought was #86, just to fill the gap

It is a very noisy affair in the main, but has some more ambient interludes, just for contrast

Produced using very minimal gear:

Yamaha VSS-30, Bugbrand Postcard and Board Weevils, Thingamagoop 2, Monotron, Pandora PX3 and DD-20 for looping, samples include iphone apps and vocal noises

It was a sequel of sorts to Adam & Jez's Impromptu Noise Jam which happened the day before

Inspired by Jack Hertz's FM stuff on recent Time Drone's tonight's show will be a looping improv featuring the Korg DS8

Episode 87 was mostly going to be heavy phased Micromoog drones and G2 doing granular processing of live vocal noises, but I ended up adding some Blofeld to the drone mix and then ending with a bit of a sequencer fest using both Nord modulars

Episode 88 was a looping ambient improv featuring the Korg DS8 Digital Synthesizer, Repeater for looping, Resonator for some filtering and Wedge for reverb and delay. The DS8 is a rather odd implementation of FM synthesis, with no operators, just 2 oscillators with amplitude and timbre envelopes, and a spectrum control, it also has xmod and ring mod, built in effects and sliders to control timbre and the envelopes, which are nice Smile

This set also features a fair bit of extreme pitch shifting of the loops using the Repeaters pitch controls.

Apart from a few technical difficulties with a bad connection, that have been edited out, I think it went quite well.

Episode 89 - Dark Skies Over Berlin, was an attempt to integrate a lot of recent ideas into one show, with dark noisy ambient stuff, putney weirdness, berlin'ish sequencing, some tron and even some drums, using putney, nord modulars, blofeld, dr-202, resonator, krautrock phaser, repeater & dd-20

Tonight's AIS is a go for me, so it is return to flight after, what? Three months?

I will continue where I left off, which is with something I was working on in Kyma - a monster reverb and some sampling tools.

Episode 91 was a dark, ambient, experimental improv loop jam that featured Alesis Andromeda, Repeater and DD-20. I used lots of oscillator FM to get some rather strange sounds Smile

This time I'll be premiering my prototype guitar, finished yesterday. I'll probably place it under a thick layer of effects and processing too while I'm at it.

Episode 93 nearly didn't happen as I was full of cold and really tired, but as the show must go on I recorded a set an hour and a quarter before I was due to go on to play over the air in my slot, so I could chill and get to bed earlier

equipment used: Oberheim Matrix 12, MAM MAP-1, Electrix Repeater, Bugbrand PT Delay, Boss DD-20

It all turned out a bit noisy and experimental, a bit wild and all over the place, much like my mental state when recording it Smile

This one was inspired by a blog post at the Walls of Valhalla and especially the first video in that post by Vangelis. My setup was remotely similar in spirit, although I did overdo the feedback a lot, almost pushing it into the runaway stage.

Kyma acted as three tape echoes, additional sounds from home made guitar, Proteus, Micron and iTouch. No looping or sequencing used.
