A different take on electronic/experimental music? |
|
|
Greetings everyone!
I'm doing a project that might be a slightly different take on electronic/experimental music. (I'm hardly the guru of this scene, and I would be pleased to know I wasn't an exception.)
I work with MIDI and Soundfonts, and am emulating a genre of music which is otherwise considered abrasive - black metal.
The music is instrumental. I've been signed since August, and have a debut CD/digital release.
I guess the reason I'm posting is to fish for questions, comments and/or snide remarks! Links to the music are below!
Thank you for your attention!

Kick ass man! Listening to the first song now and LIKING THIS MUSIC!!!
There's a lot we can help you with in terms of discussing ways to evolve your music. I'll just throw one idea into the mix: a black metal generator.
So you have these segments of sound at different levels, from notes (and well, moans for example) to phrases to full songs up to themed albums. The question is how to take these pieces and make them into some kind of automatically generated black metal song creator?
There would be a lot of ways to go. My own take would perhaps be a micro-sequencer within a macro-sequencer and of course, being a Boolean Sequencer fan, I'd use a BS at both levels.
But you could do something random or even code up something that tracks the expressed emotions of the piece. Like you have some variables such as tempo and music type and you go from anger to mourning to glory to awe and vary the music accordingly.
First song over, silence. I want more more more of this music! Very nice stuff you got here. Powerful, expressive, captivating. So you call that black metal, huh? I am pushing the [Like] button on this music!
Anyway, just tossing out some ideas, you could go anywhere with this stuff here. And welcome!
