Lunetta Beautifier Subject description: ChucK post-processor for Lunettas |
|
|
I made a ChucK program that removes the harsh square wave sounds from Lunetta audio outputs, or minimizes them anyway. Listen to the attached audio sample, first there is a Lunetta sequence then a brief pause and the same sequence processed by the ChucK program.
It sounds a bit bubbly and sine wavy, which is OK I guess. Some people prefer the natural digital sounds, but I kind of like the processed one better. Of course there are many ways to do such "beautification", and maybe I'll have another try at it based on comments posted here.
The algorithm is simple: take an fft, find the strongest harmonic, attenuate neighboring harmonics by exponentially increasing amounts according to their distance from the strongest harmonic, then take an ifft to get the final audio.
ta-da! beautification. Enjoy!
Les

Nice. I like the audio both with and without the beautifier. Do you plan to build a hardware version? |

A hardware version of this algorithm would be quite complex, and what little time I have spent trying to imagine another more implementable hardware version has not been fruitful. I will give it some more thought, because that would be a really nice thing to have - and you asked!

I would be interested in a hardware version too. Also, the demo seemed to either be on or off. Could it be applied with a pot like a filter? If not, then maybe I could just split the sound first, modify one of the splits, and then use a pot to mix them back together. |

Cyno, yes there are a couple of parameters that can be varied like a potentiometer. I'll pull them to the top and name them as variables if I get time.
