G2 USB Drop outs |
|
|
Hi
I was talking with another G2 user today and he told me his G2 never loses connection with the computer using USB.
On my G2X, that happens sometimes, but the only thing I need to do is to restart the program and it works pretty well.
Is this really a problem?
I'm asking this cause my G2X is still covered by warranty (I think...) so it would be great to get it fixed if that can turn into a more serious problem...
Thanks in advance,
Best

If someone can say something, it would be great, cause my warranty expires in 6 days, so it would be great to know if I should get it fixed or not... |

I loose connection too every now and then - depends a bit on the patches loaded, and how long it is left on, usually after some weeks it'll all need a deep reset. _________________ Jan

I experienced that sometimes, but indeed, I usually have more than one slot active and usually the program still has the slots I used in memory...
But I don't think I ever turned it on for more than 24 hours in a row...
Can that be a problem then? |

By the way, I have the latest update installed and I'm using an iMac G5 (the last one with PPC) with OS 10.4 (the latest version of that OS), to program the G2X. |

I lose connection every now and then on my intel Macs - I restart the editor and I'm fine.
My impression is that some suffer hard from this, and some not at all - it's hard to tell if it has to do with the Nords or the computers. _________________ Antimon's Window

I don't suffer that problem that much (don't think it happened more than 10 times since I got it), and as you said, when I re-strart the editor everything works fine.
I never thought about this as a problem, but since I was mentioned this didn't happen with other G2s... I got a bit afraid it could lead to the USB problem that plagues some G2s...
If it's not like that, I'm fine about it
Just don't want to think I could have tried to get it repaired under the warranty if something happens because of that...
Anyone else knows more about this? |

Some years ago I have poblems with dropouts with the connection in two ways, intermittent and sticky... (this is all running on a windows xp machine)
The intermittent dropout (editor restart finds Nord), was in my case caused by a USB hub (a cheap one)... Once I got a good USB hub (belkin) solved the problem,,
The stick dropout (an editor restart would not find the Nord again), seemed really scary, but removing and reinstalling the USB driver makes it work again ... This kind of thing happens to me every few months ....
Hey, it's my 1600th post |

G2x problem Subject description: my G2x drops out frequently |
|
|
Hi,
I've the same problem as everyone here.
Sometimes my G2x drops out, but more that every then and now.
It scares me ... a lot, because i'm working on a live project, i think the problem can be solved with a NO CHEAP usb cable. I didn't tried, but i 'm gonna do it next week.
To my point of view, when i move the usb synthesizer cable (he's not "on"), i think the output is too much moving. You can move it up or down or left or right.
I've compared with a usb output of a printer, and there is a BIG difference.
The output is very hard, and you can't move the cable easily.
So, it must/might be the cable that is the cause of all this problems with editor. And my question is : Which kind of cable could i buy to get a super massive one ? Or Usb hub. Any suggestions ? |

In my case, it was something that happened very rarely...
I tried to talk with Clavia, cause it was still covered by warranty back then, but they wanted me to downgrade the OS and test it...
But it happened so rarely that it was pointless for me to do that, as I would need more time to test it properly to see if there was any change... and I wasn't at home to do it either... but they didn't seem to understand that...
I actually checked that now, since I'm home, and can see that I can move the USB cable more on one of my G2Xs than the other...
That's probably the reason for the drop outs I have, but even when checking that, I didn't have any drop out...
So hopefully it will be stable... |
