in the layout there are already 100n ceramic capacitors that serve as decoupling caps .. but if you wanna add those 1uF electrolits you can use this .. for orientation .. there is a nice paper on capacitors i know it's on the fonitronic site i think it's called 101 capacitors http://www.modular.fonik.de/files/capacitors_101.pdf may wanna check it out ..

greetings

cheers

about using it commercially if you think .. that's for MFOS to decide as for the layout you can use it as much as you want

Seems a good place to ask; whats the difference between a passive and a buffered multiple Embarassed

Thanks

I read someone comment once that when more than one vco is driven thru passive multi - there is a drop in voltage ..meaning out of tune , i don't care too much about such details for now as i'm using no tempco vco's anyway ,so i use a passive multi .. with buffered there should be no problems like that .

also i use it for clock pulses. when you have a lot of mudules to run with a clock its some times hard to run them all tight. with a passive they sometimes run out of sync with this active multiple never Smile

That's a common misconception. Tempcos on VCOs are there to stop pitch drift due to temperature changes only. They have nothing to do with the tracking of the VCO.

Feed a constant CV to a non-tempco VCO, and set it in the sunlight. It will drift out of tune as the VCO heats up, even though the ptich CV hasn't changed. Do the same with a tempco protected VCO and the drift will be smaller.

But even the best temperature stablized VCO in the world will not play in tune if the incoming pitch CV has been split so much through non-buffered multis that its voltage has been degraded.

...of course if you're not making melodic/harmonic music, passive multis are totally fine. They're also usually fine for non-pitch related duties such as VCA or VCF Frequency modulation.

I saw this thread seeking for buffered multiple tips and also found another schematic from Ray Wilson online. See attachment.

Wondered which one I should choose. The one attached or the one seen in this thread. More detailled here:
http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/analogsynth_new/OLDIESBUTGOODIES/VOLTAGEMIXER/voltagedist1.html

Cause the one attached looks more recent, has attenuator pots and has less components, caps etc. ("more simple" in a way, though the other one is not complicated).

Mostly I was wondering if I would have to change any component value for 15V supply use instead of 12V.

Also if this could be used without problem with audio signals as well... Not necessarily mixing AC and DC signals, but using this module for both uses.

I like the buffers from this project of Ray's:

http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/forums.html?MAINTAB=SYNTHDIY&PROJARG=CVANDGATEDIST/CVANDGATEDIST.html

I built a utility board that includes both the gate/trigger distribution and the CV distribution portions of that, one with and one without the voltage offsets.
