if it were not fall here in sweden i would think that you had been sitting in a street café composing this cool tune.
you have to show me the op-1 in more detail next time we meet. i am a sucker for small sound-making machines. _________________ Make a joyful noise!

You bought an OP-1? You lucky bastard!
I'm really annoyed with TE for not being able to supply a steady stream of these instruments. It makes it impossible to buy if your strapped for cash.
"Elitist Engineering" is what they should be called!
Good track Stef, would love to hear more of you thoughts on the OP-1. _________________ ACHTUNG!

Thanks Tom!
I see what you mean - TE seem a bit unaccustomed to the whole selling-a-product thing. Looking at the store page, one day it was out of stock, a couple days later it was in stock, a couple days later out of stock and then a couple days later in stock again. I hurried and pressed the "purchase" button.
Also the unit has a sound bug (some kind of bitcrushing effects that's always on and disturbs e.g. sounds with long release) that annoys a bit. Personally I'm not that annoyed - I was looking for a couch-friendly synth with different approach to synthesis, harsh digital sounds and built-in mic and speaker, and I got that, plus the tape thing which is kind of fun. Lots of things that I'm used to being very advanced on other machines are limited here, like sequencing and sampling and the fact that the way recorded sound is stored means that you can only ever have a recording of max 6 minutes (with no flash card slot - you transfer file via USB to a computer), but for now these limits only make me inspired.
I associate the OP-1 more with the iPad than with, say, a groove box or Elektron machine, for some reason. It's more playable than an iPad, and more limited in that it's only a single "application", but you can carry it with you and do stuff quickly, on the fly. _________________ Antimon's Window

The lack of removable storage is a bit of an oversight. But I do agree with your opinion on having something that is tactile. I never really want to 'play' the iPad, unless it's hooked up to a keyboard, and that kind of misses the point. _________________ ACHTUNG!
