http://www.moogmusic.com/products/500-series/500-series-ladder-filter

From what I'm seeing, it's geared towards studio use, and as such is not CV-controllable, and is not in a standard modular format.

On the other hand, it is Moog-ishly expensive.

Cool! Cool “The Ladder” looks like a pro audio version of the moogerfooger MF-101 Low Pass Filter for studio use which even includes the envelope follower. I guess that Moog must have gotten some requests from studio engineers to make 500 Series versions of their moogerfooger pedals.

I have the MF-101 pedal and like it a lot. I wonder if there are any differences between the core circuits of these two low pass filters (better spec components, hand matched discrete transistors pairs in the ladder, etc.).

The list price is high, but well within the range of other 500 Series modules.

This device isn´t really intended for musicians. The API 500-series ‘Lunchbox’ format is for studios.
Several new and old companies have released modules for the 500 format. It seems the API Lunchbox is gaining in popularity.
Some of the newer modules are concepts that are partly taken from modular synthesis but applied in a way that is intended to appeal to a different market.

Their recent 500 module The VOG seems to be very hot right now.

Trivia:
A very nice tool is their non-lunchbox IBP - http://www.littlelabs.com/ibp.html
, which also comes as a plugin for the UAD DSPs
http://www.uaudio.com/store/special-processing/little-labs-ibp.html

The Little Labs stuff is pretty interesting and quite good. The prices aren´t too crazy considering that the stuff is soldered and assembled by zombie mormon virgins from outer space or whatever.

BTW.. one particular module that is insanely useful is this one:

and this one is just brilliant: http://www.safesoundaudio.co.uk/forums.html?page=501
