This album was a combination of re-productions of older stuff, plus some newer stuff, but the main point of the album was to finish off these old tunes once and for all, hopefully with decent production. I had just acquired a decent automated mixing console (a Roland V-series) and wanted to actually make it work with DP.

Anyway, here's the first tune off the album. This is called City Run, another vignette from daily Northern Line excursions in suits. The lead guitar on this, and elsewhere in this album, was done with my Ensoniq TS-12. Although during part of the production of this album I was in a band (the last band I will probably ever be in now), they were not interested in my music. We played covers.

Circles was composed in 1987, when I was in a band in Vermont playing original stuff. This was a major redo using the original MIDI file which had been done on an Atari ST using KCS Omega. Imported into DP, and done up a bit better.

Winter Sun in Fairfield was almost the 4th movement of The Light and Form of Ordinary Joy, but it was composed after I left Vermont, and was not produced enough at the time to make it onto For Love or Money. It is still one of my best (in my opinion) compositions.

Fantasy Girl was a final production of a musical sketch I did around 1992 or so, when I was running a studio in Vermont out of my house. It was much different by the time I got done with it, having added vocals in Connecticut around 1998 or so. The final production didn't happen until I got to London.

kind of a geek piece, though.

In 1993 I changed jobs and was traveling a lot between Vermont and Connecticut. I stayed in a house on Morningside Drive for 3-4 days a week, and went home to Vermont for 3-4 days off. Got a lot of time in the studio as a result. This was from that time, remixed and cleaned up.

Goodbye Blue Life was originally done back in 1976 in the midst of Teenage Angst. I had a fairly successful band (called Original Sin) at the time, and this was one of the songs we did (yeah, original songs).. This was a complete re-production and is a fairly long melodic ballad. Now I can say it's well and truly done, after 35 years.

Some Kind of Reunion was composed around the same time as Circles, for the same band (High Society) in Vermont. This was to commemorate my 10 year high school reunion.

In Case of Accident was interesting in that it was originally a commission I did for the Vermont Repertory Theatre for a play of that name. I did quite a few shows for the Vermont Rep and some other theatre groups while I was in Vermont. Long after the show was gone and forgotten, I put some words to the accompaniment and remixed it.

Turn Me On Again was done while I was living in Vermont, but after I had left High Society and was working with a Stevie Ray Vaughn-ish blues band... as usual my material did not fit, so I just worked it out in the studio. It was around the beginning of my disillusionment with mass media.
