Had a Micro Modular in 1999, now the proud owner of a "fulll" NM keys. Here we are:
Don't really get all the talk about editors crashing. I use the most ghetto USB midi cable and Windows 7. Works very stable. |

Here I go…
Hello Folks, I'm a new owner of a Nord Modular.
Quiet happy, but got a real problem with Nomad…
I'm unable to send a patch made under Nomad to the NM (even if, nomad has seen that i own a NM in the user interface).
Config :
M-Audio Midisport 4X4 (Both Connections on Midi Port A and Midi Port B) / Snow leopard 10.6.7 / Nomad V1.0
Any help will be greatly appreciated !
Best

I own an NM1 rack and a MicroMod, and still use the rack as my main (and live) machine. These things look undestuctible !
(for safety and ergonomy's sake, I use an external controller, though)
Being an Ubuntu user, I have issues concerning the softwares : Nomad loses contact realy often, and the Clavia editor though Wine won't allow more than one synth connected. Maybe I should question my El Cheapo MIDI interface here… _________________ ::U::N::S::C::H::N::E::L::L:: |

I love my NM1. Partially because it's fun to work with the modules but maybe most importantly it's so small and neat. Perfect for unusual patches on live gigs.
I was really chocked to find the editor wasn't working in Mac OS Lion. Would I have to sell it?
Luckily no. The Nomad editor works just fine. Hope the Modular G2 will be included in Nomad in the future. And I hope Apple doesn't drop java support. |

x 1 micro modular
x 1 modular rack
I just updated to OSX Lion and the clavia editor doesn't work anymore. I tried Nomad, but i keep getting an error message.
Would be amazing if clavia could release a new Editor version..... |

Yes it would be "amazing", because they won't.
You'd be better off running parallels or fusion, or getting a separate dedicated PC editor. _________________ ACHTUNG!

Thanks very much for the quick reply, but i have a small SSD HD and no room for windows... The Modular G1/G2 are just the two best synths Clavia ever made and i'm so sad to see them disappearing like that...
Is anybody running successfully Nomad on OSX Lion?!? i keep getting all this crap error messages...

I followed all the advices about nomad on this forum but it is still not working.
I start to believe that my MIDI interface is the problem, M-Audio Midiman UNO USB (also tried with my Motu Ultralite), but apparently everybody runs it on Midiman 2x2 successfully (really similar to mine, same drivers...).
What is the most compatible USB MIDI interface to use with Lion and Nomad? ?!
I love my modular, really don't wanna sell it.... HELP please!!!
Thanks |

A secondhand laptop that runs Windows 98 will do the job, and wouldn't cost much more than £50 or so. Is it really worth going through all this grief? _________________ ACHTUNG!

So I finally got me one these babies.
A keyboard version NM1 in very good condition.
Now that I have played with it for a little while I wish that I had bought one ten years ago. It's so very handy and capable little thingie.
The editor business (on OSX) is just a little wonky. I currently run the editor in VirtualBox, but in real life Pro Tools eats all my memory so it would be nice to find some decent alternative that could co-exist with Tools so I could tweak patches while sequencing.
A second laptop would work, but I have limited space and really don't want an extra pc.
Any cocoa programmers here?
Wanna participate in porting the Java-based editor to native code ?
I would be willing to spend some time on it, but not the rest of my life so I would need some help.

It has now been more than a year and a half since I got my nm...
Every new fancy synth/drum machine coming out makes me go "meh". The only thing I can imagine grabbing my attention would be NI cramming reaktor in a quality keyboard.
Excellent purchase. |

I'm glad I've held onto mine all these years. I bought it new in '99 and it eventually fell out of use after I retired my old G4 PowerMac. This year I bought it an iMac and a MIDIsport 4x4 and I'm happy to have it back in service.
and being able to revisit my old Blizzard titles has been an added bonus. |
